Hello.
My name is Thirumundawaradam.
And I am a teacher here on InsideTimer.
And you'll most often hear or see me in the mornings.
I want to tell you what I've come to understand about the work that I do.
I've been asked.
To talk about a modality.
Topic that I love.
Something that embodies me.
I added that last part.
But I have a system.
That brings in parts work,
Breath work.
All to help.
You be.
Connect to the true authentic self.
Who you are.
You're cool.
Your identity.
Bring you home.
Becoming your best friend.
And that's what I'm going to talk about today.
For years I've sat with myself.
With others in their pods,
The frustrated pod,
The protected pod,
The pod that's tired,
The pod that's afraid.
And we welcome it.
We don't fix them,
We don't fight them,
We don't push them away.
Nor banish them to the shadows.
We listen.
But somewhere along the way I realized underneath all of it.
Every part,
Every session,
Every walk in the forest for me.
It was only ever about one thing.
Identity.
Coming home to the person that I actually am.
And here's what I mean.
You're not the part that's loud right now.
I'm frustrated.
That's not you.
That's a part of you passing through.
I'm helpless,
I'm angry,
I'm not enough.
Bats.
It's not the sky.
And you're not the label you were handed.
Your ethnicity,
Your culture,
Your pronoun,
Where you live.
Box that someone ticked.
You could even speak.
Those are descriptions.
They're not the persons.
I know this because I've lived the layers.
Black man.
Black men in corporate,
Black men in interracial marriage,
Black men in therapy,
And Black men in business.
Coaching.
For a long time I let those define me.
The one who didn't belong,
Not quite this,
Not quite that,
Never quite home until.
.
.
I learned,
With the help of people on Insight Timer and elsewhere,
That these are the things that move through you.
They are not who I am.
I am a person,
Anchored,
Grounded,
And whole.
Because there's a difference between.
.
.
Your soul.
Your parks and your identity.
Your soul is the thread,
The divinity you glimpse in the quiet moments.
Your parts are the army you build to survive a hard world,
But your identity Your identity is here.
Person.
The self.
Everything you've seen,
Everything you've chosen,
Everything you've lived,
Everything you've become and are becoming.
That's the ground you stand on.
So the work I'm talking about,
Yes,
It's parts work,
But underneath it's identity.
Bringing you back into relationship with the person you have always been.
Always be with you.
Not the wound,
Not the label,
Not the loudest part.
But you.
You're not what happened to you.
You're not what they called you.
You are a person and coming home to that person is the whole journey.
Still one.
I'm still walking.
