Hello everyone and thank you so much for taking some time out of your day to listen to this short meditation from me,
Simon Carroll.
The aim of this meditation is to top up the energy stores to the dark side of your heart.
If you're anything like many people I know,
Who are caring,
Kind,
Heart forward people that put the needs of others before their own,
It can be easy to forget to top up your own stores first.
And that's what I hope we can do with this short meditation today.
So when you're ready,
And if you feel safe and comfortable,
Please take up a position either seated,
With your spine reasonably erect,
Or lying flat on your back,
Supported with a pillow or bolster if required,
Under your neck,
Or below your knees,
With your feet comfortably apart,
Arms just a little away from your body,
Palms facing upwards,
And closing your eyes,
I invite you now to simply observe your breath,
As the air makes its way into and out of your body,
Not trying to change the breath in any way,
But just observing,
Noticing what moves,
Noticing the qualities of the breath,
Does it feel tight or restricted or free and open,
Expansive,
What does it sound like,
Just noticing everything there is to notice,
About the breath,
As it moves from the outside world,
All the way to the bottom of your lungs,
And back out again.
And as you remain aware of the breath,
I now invite you to become aware of your heart space,
The space in the middle of your chest,
The space where your heart lives,
And as you continue to breathe,
Perhaps imagine,
As you breathe in,
The air is filled with beautiful golden energy,
That you're going to bring into your body,
Through your nose,
Or your mouth if you need to,
And direct that to your heart space,
Energising your heart,
Surrounding it with beautiful golden light,
And as you breathe out,
Extend that energy,
All the way to the edges of your body,
And continuing to breathe in,
That beautiful golden light from the outside,
Directing it to your heart space,
And on your exhale,
Allowing that golden energy to be shared,
With every single cell of yourself,
And as we continue this activity,
Just become aware of which side of your heart you're visualising,
As that golden light moves to it,
In many cases,
It's the front of the heart,
But what I'd like you to do now is,
Ensure that as you're breathing in,
We allow that energy to move to the rear of your heart,
The aspect of your heart that's facing your spine,
Ensuring that,
That side of the heart that we tend to think of a little less,
Gets its fair measure of that beautiful golden energy,
And again,
As you breathe out,
Allow that golden energy to be shared with the rest of yourself,
And I'd like to invite you,
If you're comfortable and able,
To join your hands,
Or one side of your body to the other via your arms,
And as you make that connection,
Become aware of the contact points that you've made,
And as you breathe out,
That lovely golden energy you're sharing with all of the rest of your body,
Feel the connection between one arm or hand and the other,
Allowing that golden energy to move,
In a circuit,
Out one side,
Into the other side,
And directing that energy back to the rear of your heart,
Continuing that process of breathing in the golden energy,
Breathing it out to the furthest regions of your body,
But as you do,
Allow that connection between your arms to recycle some of that energy back,
Particularly to the back of your heart,
And after your next exhale is complete,
Feel free to position your arms back in a place of comfort,
By your sides,
Or if you're seated,
Maybe on your thighs,
Palms facing up,
And just bring your awareness now back into your breath,
With the sensations that you feel as you breathe,
Lovely,
Comfortable breath in,
And a relaxed exhale,
And now move your attention to your body,
Paying particular attention to the contacts of your body with the surface below,
Feeling your weight on those contact points,
Settling back in to yourself,
Becoming aware of your whole body,
From the tips of your toes to the top of your head,
And now becoming aware of whatever space it is that you're inhabiting,
If you're inside,
Visualize the walls around you,
The floor beneath you and the ceiling above,
Any familiar objects around you,
Or if you're outside,
Just do the same,
Imagining whatever it is you're surrounded by in your mind's eye,
And now invite you to take a lovely deep cleansing breath in,
Filling your lungs all the way up,
And letting it go without effort,
And when you feel comfortable and whole,
Gently open your eyes,
And just do a little systems check to see how you feel,
If it's good,
Perhaps carry that feeling forward with you,
Through the next phase of your day,
And if not,
Do your best to let those negative feelings go,
