Tonight,
The wind delivers your scent,
Deep,
Penetrating,
Pure,
Like wet earth after the summer rain.
You are so far,
And yet so near,
An unknown bordering my heart.
I breathe you in as I breathe the breath that allows my voice to be,
Sending ripples into your ears,
Listening to me in the distance.
Tonight,
The fallen leaves blow all around me in rapture,
Surrounding me with their dance.
I become the music,
And feel you as a whole note within me,
Claiming the spaces that have long been forgotten.
We,
We are like the waves,
Undulating,
Soft,
Balmy,
With an underlying power intimately known only when we dive in And become like them in their play,
Cleansing ourselves with their wide,
Roaring foam,
Leaving behind everything we are and are not,
As they carry us gently to the shore where we meet ourselves anew As the fire that was kindled long,
Long ago,
When we experienced ourselves as the first spark of light,
Igniting existence and inviting her to become all that she could.
Now,
Here again,
You and me,
A thousand times one another,
Lost and found inside these words made up of bones and marrow,
Breath and thirst and longings untold,
Yours and mine.
You,
You have become the earth,
Drawing me close,
Like a thick,
Hardy root reaching deep down,
Piercing my core.
I,
I have become the ocean,
Engulfing you,
With my arms and legs around you,
Extending myself throughout your life,
Merging,
Colliding,
Merging again,
Colliding again,
Carving the blueprint of our spirits together,
Awakening to the truth that we proclaimed so,
So much,
But could not understand until now.
We,
We opening,
Widening,
A blaze like the sun,
Boundless,
Traveling across the universe like shooting stars,
Leaving trails of light behind for others to reach and take and eat And bless themselves with the same love that blesses us,
Us.
Unfathomable,
Immeasurable,
Complete,
Undressing the mystery layer by layer,
Singing hymns of victory as we embrace our instincts,
Raw and human,
And offer our eternity To the one who writes our story,
She writes our story inside the palms of her hands.
