Five Acred Wood Fables The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin by R.
M.
Bode In the five-acred wood,
Many animals choose to live together in tranquility and peace.
They set aside their primal instincts to allow their love and compassion to increase.
Listen and rejoice as the story is about to begin.
The timeless tale of The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin started off more like foes instead of friends.
Today,
They are as close as can be.
You'll understand by the time this story ends.
A long time ago,
The Turtle swam his way from the Hudson River to the serene sanctuary of the peaceful five-acred wood.
He swam with as much courage,
Strength,
And determination as he could.
As The Turtle embarked on his journey,
Another was also taking place.
The Tortoise trekked from the Mojave Desert at a slow and steady pace.
As you may have guessed,
A third journey was also underway.
The Terrapin traveled from his home in Chesapeake Bay.
The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin started their long journeys on the first day of May.
The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin's paths finally did cross at the five-acred woods on summer solstice day.
The Turtle was the first to arrive.
He searched for the best spot for his well-being to thrive.
He found a giant hollowed-out tree next to the crystal-clear flowing creek.
The Turtle was in so much awe,
He had no words to speak.
Just as the Turtle was about to walk inside the giant hollowed-out tree,
The Tortoise came around the corner and claimed that was his house,
You see.
As the Turtle and Tortoise argued outside the tree,
The Terrapin came closer to get his own look-see.
Each claimed that they had seen the hollowed-out tree first when it was completely empty.
The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin each believed that they had the right to live inside that tree.
Mrs.
Owl heard all of the commotion and came to offer some assistance.
There's no need to fight,
She said,
Especially after traveling such a far distance.
Let's all have dinner tonight,
Mrs.
Owl said.
Instead of fussing and fighting,
Let's come to a solution as we relax and break bread.
Wow,
What a feast it was indeed.
There was an abundance of fruits,
Vegetables,
And various seed.
All of the residents of the five-acred wood were there to eat.
Such a wonderful welcome and so many new neighbors to meet.
Mr.
And Mrs.
Deer were there along with their friends the families of Raccoon and Bear.
Mrs.
And Mr.
Fox were there with the Rabbit family and Mrs.
And Mr.
Skunk.
Squirrel and Mouse were there with all the little chipmunks.
All of the little owlets were there waiting patiently in their nests,
Excited to eat.
And of course,
Mrs.
Owl,
Who as always is so gracious and sweet.
The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin realized how similar their lifestyles actually were as well.
They even had similar patterns on the backs of their shell.
The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin all agreed.
They would make most excellent roommates indeed.
After all,
The hollowed out tree was gigantic in size and had plenty of room for all three.
This turned out to be a wonderful day.
All three would once again agree.
The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin grew close to be the family they didn't know they needed.
Together at the five-acred wood,
Their new lives were seeded.
Thank you for listening to the five-acred wood fable,
The Turtle,
Tortoise,
And Terrapin.
Much Love,
Bodhi
