Start by finding a quiet and comfortable space where you won't be disturbed and allow yourself to settle in and get quiet.
Release any tension you may be holding in the face or the jaw or the shoulders or the back.
Bring your awareness to the inhale and the exhale and slowly intentionally try to extend the inhale and extend the exhale.
Before we go anywhere together,
Let's just begin by acknowledging the depth of this loss.
It might be big,
It might be real big,
But let's just acknowledge what's there.
Loss is grief and grief is a unique and personal journey.
This meditation is a compassionate space to invite some healing.
Bring your awareness now to your physical body and with each breath,
Consciously release any tension that bubbles up from that grief,
That loss,
That despair.
With each breath,
Become just five percent lighter.
Loss and grief are heavy,
Heavy emotions that often leave us feeling weighted down and allow each breath to invite a slight sense of buoyancy.
Now,
Picture yourself standing on the shore of a calm lake during a peaceful sunset.
Notice the colors of that bright sunset and recognize that the setting sun reflects its warm hues on the waters.
And this is a symbolization of the memories,
The memories that are wrapped up in this loss.
As you gaze at this peaceful,
Bright sunset,
You see the ripples on the water representing the impact,
The impact of this loss on your life.
It's okay to feel those ripples.
Maybe they're even waves.
They feel like a tsunami.
Just acknowledge the ripples that loss can send throughout your life.
As you reflect on those ripples,
You may feel a sense of grief,
Sadness,
And that's okay.
I invite these affirmations as you reflect.
I honor these memories.
In loss,
I find strength and resilience.
With each breath,
I heal.
Now,
Take a moment and acknowledge any emotions that may be arising.
It's okay to feel sorrow and sadness and pain.
You may also feel joy,
Relief,
Excitement,
Freedom.
Welcome and acknowledge all of these emotions,
All of the sorrows,
All of the joys,
Embracing the bittersweet beauty that comes from loss and grief.
Now,
Envision a soft and compassionate light surrounding you.
This light can be any color at all that you aspire to.
Associate with healing,
With peace,
With moving on.
And with each breath,
Allow this healing,
Compassionate light to take up more space.
Feel its warmth.
Feel its support,
Even as you navigate the ripples.
Allow compassion into your heart.
Allow a sense of peace into your mind.
Allow yourself to heal.
With every loss,
No matter how great or small,
We are given an opportunity to know ourselves better.
Every loss that feels like a loss tells us something about ourselves and our values and our relationships.
So open your mind up to the possibilities,
Up to the reflections of what this loss has to teach you.
Those teachings are not here to negate the heaviness and the weight and the impact of this loss.
The sun does rise again,
And as it rises,
So do you.
So do you and all of your potential,
All of the opportunities to learn,
All of the ways to heal.
Allow yourself permission to emerge from this loss at your own time,
At your own pace,
And with new gifts of knowing yourself more.
So start to deepen the breath and become aware again of your surroundings.
Whenever you are ready,
Make your way back to your present moment.
And I hope this meditation offers solace and support as you navigate the path of healing from loss.
May you be well.
