Meditation for Kujichagulia Self-determination Kujichagulia is celebrated on the second day of Kwanzaa,

December 27th.

Kujichagulia means self-determination.

It encourages us to define ourselves,

Name ourselves,

And speak for ourselves instead of being defined by others.

So let's do a simple breathing and guided meditation for Kujichagulia.

So let's start with bringing our awareness to our breath.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

So with each breath,

Feel your inner strength growing,

Envisioning the energy of self-confidence spreading through your body.

So breathe in through your nose,

Charging yourself out.

And exhale,

Releasing all tension.

One more time,

Breathe in through your nose and then fully release your air in your exhale.

So take a moment and visualize yourself in a mountain.

You are this mountain.

You are majestic,

Unmovable,

Standing firm in your identity.

Be that mountain.

Be rooted.

Be grounded.

Be firm.

Know who you are.

I'm going to read some affirmations for the spirit of Kujichagulia.

Feel free to repeat after me or just allow the energy of my voice to sit with you.

I define myself by my truth.

I have the power to shape my destiny.

My voice matters and I use it with confidence.

I am strong,

Capable,

And determined.

I honor my individuality and the legacy that I carry.

As we conclude our practice for today,

I invite you to reflect on your personal values and how they guide your actions.

Ask yourself,

What is one way I can honor my true self today?

Thank you for joining me and happy Kwanzaa.
