Love As The Practice Of Freedom

In this reading of bell hooks' essay we learn that in the New Age, our collective liberation and the healing of the Black body politic must be guided by a love ethic. We are given a history of how the Black Power movement of the 60s had taken on a culture of dominance and sexism, leading to the internalization of racism within Black people. Hooks suggests a return to an understanding of our spiritual interdependence as the source of our healing. Healing cannot be done in isolation.
