Sometimes we can get off balance.
So this is a breathing exercise to help you tap into the wisdom of the equinox.
When our planet is both equally light and equally dark.
There's as much night as there is day.
But you can use it at any time of the year to remember the balance within yourself.
The balance of our planet and to get back into alignment with it.
So we'll start by getting settled.
Finding a comfortable seat.
If you can be even 1% more comfortable.
Settle in and close your eyes.
Make with your hand a hang ten.
Put your pinky up and your thumb up.
And your three middle fingers down by your palm.
We'll begin with alternate nostril breathing.
Place your thumb on your right side nostril.
And breathe in through your left nostril.
At the top,
Hold your nostrils together.
And release the thumb.
And let your air come out of your right side nostril.
Keeping your hand and fingers in place.
Breathe in through the right side nostril.
Hold at the top.
And release through your left side nostril.
Deep,
Full inhale through the left.
Hold at the top.
Releasing the thumb.
Exhale through the right side.
Inhale through the right side.
Hold at the top.
Release through the left side.
One more time.
In through the left.
Hold at the top.
And release through the right.
Now you can put your hands down and rest them in your lap.
And begin breathing at a normal pace.
Feeling the two sides of your body equally.
We'll run through a quick body scan.
Starting at your left side foot.
Feel your toes.
Your feet.
Your ankle.
Your calf and your shin.
Your knee.
Your thigh.
Your left hip.
Your left side body.
Your left belly.
Your left chest.
Your left shoulder.
Your left arm.
Upper arm.
Forearm.
Wrist.
Hands and fingers.
Moving back up to the left side of your neck.
Your left jaw.
Your left cheek.
Your left eye.
The left side of your forehead.
Breathe in to the crown of your head.
One deep breath in.
And release the breath.
Coming back down the right side of your body.
Feel your right forehead.
Your right eye.
Your right cheek.
Your right ear.
Your right jaw.
Your right neck.
Your right shoulder.
Your right upper arm.
Forearm.
Wrist.
Hand and fingers.
Your right side chest.
Your right side body.
Your right belly.
Your right hip.
Your right thigh.
Your right calf.
And shin.
Your right ankle.
Foot.
And toes.
Notice if you sense any imbalance between your left and your right side.
Was there a spot on your body that was stickier than the other side?
Let's breathe into that place now.
Give it some loving attention.
Deep breath in.
And let that go.
And now imagine your breath moving in an oval right in front of your body.
Starting with your left foot.
Traveling up your leg and your chest and past your head.
Traveling back down on your right side.
Passing your shoulder and your middle,
Your leg.
And meeting at the bottom where you started the breath.
Breathing in.
Imagining the breath moving in an oval from your left side.
From the bottom all the way up,
Up,
Up to the top of your head.
And exhale.
Breathing out the breath.
Completing the oval.
Breathing in.
Again,
Drawing that oval from your foot all the way to the top of your head.
And on the exhale,
Draw the opposite side.
From your head all the way down to your foot.
A complete oval.
A zero.
Emptiness.
Pure potential.
Continue breathing.
Imagining that oval opening up as a portal before you.
Breathing in.
And now you stand on a threshold.
It's the equinox.
A geological threshold.
You can create this threshold any time as an opportunity to move into a new balanced way of being.
Let's solidify that portal one more time.
Breathing in from the left side of your body all the way up to your head.
And breathing out,
Carving that final line.
And on the count of three,
You'll symbolically step through this portal,
Step over the threshold.
Leaving behind anything that has knocked you out of balance.
And stepping into a new balanced way of being.
On the count of three,
One foot at a time.
One.
Two.
Three.
Step in your mind's eye,
Your left foot,
Over the threshold of the portal you've created with your breath.
Feeling what it feels like to be on just one foot.
And now bring along your right foot through the threshold.
And stand balanced.
Take a deep breath.
In.
And out.
And go forth into your day.
Having balanced your body and aligned your breathing with the harmony of the earth.
Thank you for your practice.
