Henley.
Thank you for joining me.
Gratitude.
Can easily become another idea we understand without really feeling it.
This short practice we will slow down and notice one ordinary part of life that quietly supports us.
Giving gratitude somewhere real to begin.
Find a comfortable position.
And allow your hands to rest easily.
You can close your eyes or simply lower your gaze.
Taking a moment to notice.
That you have arrived here.
No need to change the breath.
No need to try to create a particular feeling simply notice the body.
Resting where it is.
Feel one breath,
Moving in.
And warm breath.
Moving out.
Allow your attention to settle.
Around the natural rhythm of the breath.
The rise,
And the fold.
The quiet movement just continuing by itself.
Gratitude is.
Often associated with the bigger things in life.
The people we love.
Important opportunities.
Moments we know we will remember.
Much of what supports us each day.
Becomes.
Almost invisible through familiarity.
So,
For the next few minutes,
We're going to bring attention to one ordinary part of life.
That is already here.
Nothing extraordinary is required.
Bring to mind one familiar part of your day.
That quietly makes life just a little bit more easy or more comfortable.
It might be the bed you sleep in.
A favourite mug for your morning drink.
A chair beside a window.
The warm water from your shower.
Just choose one ordinary thing that genuinely does matter to you.
And once you have chosen,
Stay with that one thing.
Picture it as clearly as you can.
Notice its shape,
Its familiarity.
A way you probably use it without giving it much thought most of the time.
Now consider what it gives to you.
Maybe comfort,
Rest or convenience.
Or maybe just a small feeling of being home.
Notice what becomes visible when you give this ordinary part of your life.
Your full attention.
There is no need to try to force gratitude.
You don't have to make yourself feel deeply thankful.
What we're doing is simply recognizing the value of what you have chosen.
Silently say to yourself.
I am glad this is part of my life.
And notice how that sentence feels.
I am glad this is part of my life.
Take a slow breath in.
.
.
And let the breath leave naturally.
So much of daily life becomes background.
We see the same room,
Reach for the same objects,
Move through our daily familiar routines.
And attention moves quickly toward what needs fixing or what is missing.
Looking for what comes next.
Gratitude brings part of that background to the foreground again.
It allows us to recognise value before circumstances have to change.
Now gently let the image you have been holding fade.
And bring your attention back to your body.
Noticing you're breathing again,
With the air entering.
Yeah,
Leaving.
Feeling into the support underneath you.
And notice that,
For these few minutes,
The body has been held by the chair,
The bed or the floor.
And bring some appreciation to that simple support.
Then.
Notice the breath itself.
You have not had to remember each inhalation.
Breathing has continued quietly throughout the practice.
You don't need to feel grateful for everything.
Life can contain difficulty and gratitude at the same time.
But for this moment,
One honest point of appreciation is enough.
See?
See if you can silently complete this sentence,
Today I am grateful for.
Allow whatever came to mind to remain with you for another few breaths.
And consider carrying that answer into the rest of your day.
Not as a task,
Simply as something that's really worth remembering.
Take a slightly deeper breath in and slowly breathe out.
Beginning to notice the room around you,
And any sounds nearby.
The temperature of the air,
Feeling of your hands resting.
Moving the fingers gently.
Maybe wiggling the toes and,
When you're ready,
Allow your eyes to open.
Thank you so much for spending these few minutes with me.
And if you're interested in exploring gratitude a bit more deeply and turn it into a regular part of your life.
I also have a course here on Insight Timer.
Named.

Go in peace.
