Thank you for joining me on this meditation on self-compassion.
So many of us have struggled with feelings of unworthiness.
Deficiencies in some way.
Or even shame,
Guilt.
These feelings come from a wounded place.
The more wounded we are.
The more the trance of unworthiness.
It puts us into a fight.
Flight or freeze modes.
In this defended mode can be very difficult.
To see beyond.
When we're reactive in such a way,
We shut down.
And so being tender towards ourselves.
Turning to ourselves to receive self-compassion becomes even more difficult.
And so when we're compassionate to other people.
We tend to want to help relieve their suffering.
It's so much easier to help others.
Or not obstructed with that defended feeling.
Ourselves.
So if we can learn.
To be present.
With what is,
What we're feeling,
Just being aware by labeling it.
If we can be kind.
By just simply asking ourselves.
What do I need?
This obviously involves understanding and caring and kindness towards ourselves without judgment and self-criticism.
And just knowing that.
Imperfection as part of the human experience.
And the difficulty,
The pain,
The challenges that we feel.
We're not alone.
So many people share the same feelings.
Self-compassion is goodwill training.
And just.
.
.
Means that we're setting an intention.
To be there for ourselves in an authentic and caring way.
This helps to build more emotional regulation and emotional resilience.
This meditation today is about deepening the bridge between mind,
Body,
And spirit.
It's an invitation to slow down and observe what's happening within ourselves without judgment.
It's also an opportunity to explore feelings tenderly.
Who we are authentically.
So find a comfortable posture.
One that feels right for you in this moment.
Let's take a full,
Deep breath.
Following it from your nose.
Into your throat.
Filling your chest.
Following it all the way out on the slow,
Full exhale.
Just relax into any kind of rhythm of breathing that feels most natural for you.
She's thinking about this heart space.
What is your intention?
What is it that you need right now?
This practice may bring up feelings of overwhelm.
Or difficulty.
Or perhaps even feelings of unworthiness.
Sometimes it can be awkward to turn inward.
Feel caring and kind toward ourselves.
Just recognize whatever you feel and allow it to be here in this moment.
Just welcome your vulnerability.
Right here and right now.
Sometimes we get stuck in our own stories.
Or in narratives that developed out of pain avoidance.
Maybe you believe you're unworthy.
Or perhaps you carry shame.
Or guilt.
Regret.
Maybe it's arrogance or superiority.
Maybe you just feel unlovable due to prior situations or relationships.
Maybe society has labeled you,
Leaving you feeling isolated.
Whatever your experiences or beliefs you've had with your family or your friends,
Society.
Any of these that may have triggered an unfavorable sense of belonging,
Just let it be here in this moment.
It is because we think or feel something.
Doesn't mean they're true.
Sometimes we accept these feelings or thoughts about ourselves to avoid more pain.
When we can go inward.
Face the discomfort or the fear we're feeling.
You can find the healing and self-compassion that we deserve and need.
When we can take the time to allow compassion for ourselves and ask,
What am I believing?
We can turn towards our true self.
In any moment,
You can choose self compassion.
Love and respect.
Being truly open-hearted with ourselves is a freedom we experience when we unprogram our beliefs.
Holding space,
And the idea that you are inherently good,
Deserving,
And born to give and receive love.
Is part of the practice.
When we soften in this way and open our hearts.
We can express the same love we give to others,
The same compassion we give to others towards ourselves.
You And we ruminate.
And hold on to our pain.
We cling to the fear.
And cling to the behaviors that no longer serve us.
Intentionally sitting with ourselves in a loving,
Understanding,
And compassionate way helps us move through this pain and defendedness.
I invite you to hold yourself with a loving,
Warm touch.
Maybe with a hand over your heart.
With a soft,
Embraceable hug.
And with kindness whisper to yourself.
May I be held in compassion.
May my pain and sorrows be eased.
May my heart know peace.
When we make this U-turn to ourselves,
When we're feeling overwhelmed or challenged,
And we soften into this kindness and this compassion.
You can set the tone to tend and befriend to what we're experiencing in life at any given moment.
This compassion is love in action.
This requires space and mindset.
And as this meditation comes to a close.
Just ask yourself.
Who would I be if I didn't believe my thoughts and feelings about myself?
More worthy of love.
We are worthy of compassion.
Namaste.
