Hello my friend.
Lauren here.
This meditation is called forest path.
It's a sleep meditation to help you.
Gently let go of the day.
And your responsibilities.
And any issues.
That may be weighing you down.
Welcome.
I'm really glad you're here.
Here,
You don't have to fix anything.
Don't have to fix yourself!
Before we start.
Choose.
Where you're going to practice this meditation and perhaps wear loose clothing.
You could seat yourself in a comfy chair or lie down in your bed.
It's your choice.
Sit down or lie down.
Comfortably.
We will begin.
You don't have to fix yourself.
You are welcome.
Exactly.
Completely.
As you are now.
With whatever you may be carrying right now.
Take a moment to settle your body.
Let your hands land wherever you are.
They want to land.
Let your feet be however they naturally fall.
There is no correct way to do this.
Do what feels enough for you in this moment.
If it feels okay,
Soften your face.
Allow your eyes to gently close.
Soften your forehead,
Relax your face.
Take a slow,
Easy breath.
If you can,
Through your nose and out through your mouth.
Or if that's not suitable right now,
Breathe as you breathe.
This is not a performance breath.
It is not about getting this right.
It's just about being a little,
A little slower.
And a little.
Kinda.
Don't you think it makes so much difference?
When we can be just that.
A little kinder.
Sigh Again,
A gentle breath in and a soft melting breath out.
Out.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Notice the support beneath you,
Your bed,
Your couch,
Possibly a chair.
What is holding you up?
What is supporting you?
You do not have to hold yourself up.
Alone.
Breathe.
Arriving at the forest edge.
Now,
In your mind,
Begin to imagine that you are standing at the edge of a forest.
It is evening.
Or perhaps early evening.
You decide The air is soft.
And cool.
The light,
It is gentle.
You can see a path.
Ahead of you.
See the path a forest path.
That leads into the trace.
You don't have to walk this path yet.
Just notice.
Notice what is around you.
Notice the trees their trunks?
Their branches.
The leaves overhead.
And righteous.
See a path It is beautiful.
Notice the beauty.
Years.
Notice the ground beneath your feet.
Perhaps a mix of soil.
Fallen leaves,
Small stones.
Maybe you hear the quiet sounds.
A bird calling in the distance.
Leaves rustling.
Perhaps,
Perhaps a soft breeze.
Listen.
What can you smell?
You might smell earth.
Tab leaves,
Or pine.
Pine has that particular Pine smell,
Doesn't it?
Just beautiful.
What can you smell?
What can you see?
You don't have to see everything clearly.
Just let a few small details arrive.
Imagine.
Take a gentle breath in.
.
.
Sigh.
You are safe here.
You are.
This forest.
It is a kind place.
A place where you can put things down.
Thanks.
Carrying the roles of the day.
As you stand at the forest's edge,
Notice that you have been carrying many roles.
And many responsibilities today.
Consider this,
Perhaps you have been a worker I care.
A parent.
A partner.
A friend.
A friend.
A grandparent.
A relative.
A student.
A student,
A support person.
Perhaps.
.
.
Maybe.
You have been the organizer the fixer.
The one who remembers everything.
The wand.
That needs to fix everything.
You don't need to list all the roles perfectly.
Just let a few come to mind.
Softly name the roles in your mind.
Today,
I carried the role of.
.
.
Today,
I carried the role of.
.
.
Today i carried the role off maybe there is a heaviness in your shoulders.
Maybe a tightness in the chest.
.
.
Perhaps there is a buzzing or a busyness.
In the mind.
.
.
That's okay.
You have been carrying a lot today.
Even if you feel you didn't do enough.
Your nervous system has been working hard.
Tonight,
This forest path will help you.
The path will help you.
It will help you put some of these bags down.
At least for now.
Bags on your shoulders.
Now imagine each roll.
And each responsibility.
These are like.
A small bag.
Or a patch.
You have been carrying.
Imagine.
Some bags might be light.
Some bags may feel really heavy you might picture a work bag.
A family.
A to-do list.
A worry about tomorrow back.
You don't have to name all the bags.
Just sense the bags.
Sense that you have been carrying.
Mini bags.
And these bags all together.
Are heavy.
Notice where your body feels these bags Where are you carrying these bags?
Perhaps in your next life.
Perhaps your shoulders?
Your chest,
Your head.
Without forcing anything.
See just see if you can soften one small area of your body Just relax.
One area.
Perhaps gently drop the shoulders just a little.
Unclench the jaw a tiny bit.
Let the belly be soft.
Grow a little.
Softer.
You are allowed to put some packs in.
To put some of these bags down tonight.
You will not stop being the caring person you are.
If you have a rest.
Have a rest.
Lace some bags.
Imagined.
Placing some bags down.
Now imagine yourself walking walking slowly along the forest path.
Walking the forest path.
Your feet move at a gentle natural pace.
You can feel the ground beneath you.
Perhaps soft earth.
Or leaves,
Or small tweaks.
You are still carrying some bags.
Some roles,
Some responsibilities.
But ahead of you.
You see something helpful.
Along the path.
On either side are trees with strong branches.
Imagine.
On some of the branches you notice small sturdy hooks.
Or low bowels.
Perfect.
Just perfect.
Or hanging.
Pax.
Little bags.
See,
Imagine.
Righteous.
Along the forest path.
The forest.
Is inviting you to place some of your bags on these branches.
For the night.
Or the whole night.
Not throwing away the bags not destroying the bags.
Hanging them up.
Like a coat.
On a hook.
Can you do that?
Can you do that right now?
I think you can you can choose one by one.
Which bags to hang.
Put away.
For a little while.
A long while.
There is no rush,
Be kind.
Relax,
Release your body.
Hanging up the bags.
You stop now beside the first tree.
You see a friendly branch with a strong hook.
Choose one bag.
To hang on this branch.
Perhaps it is the work bag?
Perhaps it is emails,
Decisions.
Projects.
Deadlines.
Perhaps it is another fact In your mind,
Slowly lift this bag from your shoulders.
And place it carefully on the hook.
Notice now.
How your body feels.
Norris.
The tiniest of changes.
There is change.
Notice.
You might whisper to yourself.
Work and stay here for tonight on this hook.
I can pick this up tomorrow.
Or you may say something else you may place something else on the hook.
You choose.
You decide.
Kind.
Take a soft breath.
Another.
Now a little further along the path.
You stop at another trait.
You choose this tree carefully.
Choose a second bag.
Perhaps this is the holding it together for everyone bad.
The one where you feel you must manage emotions.
Keep the peace.
Be strong.
Be resilient.
Perhaps.
Gently imagine sliding this back.
Off your shoulders.
And hanging it on the branch.
You might say to yourself.
I do not have to hold anything.
Tonight.
I do not have to hold it.
Everything tonight.
This forest.
This forest can hold some of this for me.
This forest can hold.
Some of this for me.
Notice again.
Even a tiny drop in tension.
Continue along the path.
As you continue,
You might hang up a worry about tomorrow.
You might hang up a guilt bag.
You might hang up a shame.
A perfectionism.
A mental to-do list.
Back.
You don't have to hang all the bags at once.
Hang the bags as suits you.
Kindly.
To sew even if you hang just one.
That is enough.
It is.
Each time you hang a bag,
You can whisper.
I put this down for now.
I am.
Allowed.
To rest.
I put this down for now.
I am?
Allowed.
Let your breath be soft.
Let your shoulders be a little wider.
Heavier.
As the bags you are holding.
Become lighter?
Less.
Reaching the clearing.
As you move along the path.
Leaving some of your bags on trees you begin to notice.
That the forest feels more open.
As you move along the path.
Leaving some of your bags on trays.
You begin to notice that the forest feels more open.
Ahead of you,
You see a clearing.
Notice the clearing.
It is a gentle clearing.
And space.
Perhaps there is a soft.
.
.
Mossy ground.
Perhaps.
There is a fallen log.
Perhaps there is a smooth rock.
A rock you can sit on.
Or possibly lie on.
You arrive in this clearing with far fewer bags.
You may still carry one.
Or two.
That's okay.
We are not forcing anything here.
Whatever you do,
It's okay.
It is enough.
But notice what it is like to be here with less.
You don't need to hold on.
You don't need to collect.
You are okay with that.
Less.
You are still.
You are?
Okay.
You are still you.
Notice what it is like to be here with less.
What is less?
What does less?
Feel like for you.
You are surrounded by trees.
That are holding some of your responsibilities.
For the night.
They won't go anywhere.
You can come back in the morning and pick them up.
If you need to.
If you want to.
.
.
.
If you choose to.
For now.
You can rest.
Rest.
Rest.
Lying down in the clearing.
Imagine lying down in the clearing.
Feel the Earth supporting you.
Steady and kind.
The sky above might be full of stars.
Beautiful twinkling stars.
Or a soft glowing moon.
At the end too.
No rush.
Cloud.
What can you say?
You are lying down.
You feel held by the ground.
Feel held.
The ground is beneath your back,
Underneath you.
The ground is beneath your hips.
Relax.
Your head.
You feel comfortable.
Notice.
You don't have to stand up anymore.
You don't have to carry.
Anymore.
You don't have to carry anything or hold.
Anything.
Take a gentle breath in.
.
.
And slow.
Say to yourself within your mind.
In your own words if you like.
I have done enough today.
I am allowed to put things down.
I don't have to carry.
Everything.
Tonight.
Or anything.
It is safe to rest.
Right now.
Perhaps take one phrase and float it in your mind.
You decide which phrase.
Like a leaf resting on a stool.
Which phrase.
What you choose.
Were paid that price.
Gentle phrase and drifting into sleep.
Choose that gentle phrase to carry with you into sleep,
Your sleep.
You might choose I've done enough for today.
You might choose,
I am allowed to rest.
You might choose,
I don't have to carry.
Everything tonight.
You might choose,
I can put my roles down for now.
Or the forest can hold my bags.
While I sleep.
Or I am safe to soften.
I am safe to let go.
I am enough,
Even if I do nothing more today.
Notice which phrase feels the warmest.
Kindest.
The most.
Relieving Hold that phrase lightly in your mind.
You don't have to repeat it perfectly.
You can simply rest near the phrase.
Like resting near a gentle fire.
Or near the shores of the ocean.
Like just lying.
On this rock.
That you are imagining.
Lying on that rock.
You are enough.
The trees around you as you lie on this rock.
This imaginary rock.
The trees stand quietly around you.
Holding your bags on their branches.
The path is behind you.
The clearing beneath you.
The sky.
All that is left for you to do is breathe.
And truth.
If sleep comes,
Let it come.
If you remain awake for a while.
That's okay,
Too.
You are still resting.
You are still allowed.
To be here.
In this clearing.
Everything is okay.
You are still allowed to be here.
Without carrying.
Lying in your forest clearing.
While the trees keep watching.
Watching over you?
Watching over your roles.
Watching over your responsibilities.
You are allowed to rest.
You are enough.
Good night,
My friend.
Relax,
Release your body your head.
Your face,
Your shoulders.
Arms.
Your legs,
Your feet,
Your belly.
Relax.
Release.
Rest.
Rest,
It is okay.
You are okay.
You will be.
Okay Relax.
Release.
