Welcome to day eight of our 30-day meditation challenge.
Today,
We'll be practicing with noticing emotions.
So I invite you to find a posture that feels supportive for this practice.
You could be sitting up.
You could be in a chair or on the floor.
Cross-legged or feet flat on the ground.
You could also be lying down or even standing with your back supported against a wall.
And inviting the eyes to close.
You can also keep the eyes a quarter of the way open,
Lightly gazing a few feet in front of you on the floor if that feels most supportive.
We're really just allowing the body to settle into the posture that we've chosen today.
So let's take a nice slow breath in through the nostrils.
And letting the breath go.
Let the breath just return to its natural rhythm.
And today we will expand awareness to include emotions.
So whatever you're feeling today is welcome in this meditation.
There's no need to change anything.
Each day and all throughout the day,
We will experience different emotions.
There's nothing that we need to do to them or for them.
We're simply allowing and noticing.
So noticing what emotional weather system is present for you right now.
Perhaps there is calm.
Perhaps restlessness.
You might notice an uplifted.
Joyous sense.
Or maybe what feels like a heavier.
.
.
Saddening feeling.
Whatever it is that you notice on the spectrum of emotions.
Can all be welcomed.
In the space of our practice.
As the emotions arise and pass,
We're just allowing them to really be felt in the body.
So if we feel an emotion of happiness.
Where in the body Do you sense it?
If you feel sadness,
Where do you sense that?
Is there a sense of heaviness?
Constriction,
Openness.
Lightness.
No right or wrong way to feel.
We're simply acknowledging whatever is present.
Wherever it resides in the body,
And its direct and immediate felt sense in the body.
Emotions are like weather systems.
They come and they go.
So just allowing whatever emotion is here.
To be held.
Inside of your awareness.
Emotions move like weather.
In the sky-like nature of awareness.
So there's nothing to cling to or push away.
All can be accommodated.
In this vast.
Open,
Spacious field.
Of our own awareness.
So resting back.
Into the awareness.
That knows the passing emotion.
Thank you for practicing with me on day eight of our 30-day meditation challenge,
And I do hope that you will join me again tomorrow.
Namaste.
