Welcome to this moment of self-care.
Let yourself arrive into your body,
This body that has carried you through everything.
Place your feet flat on the floor and feel the ground receiving you and gently close your eyes.
Take a big breath,
Filling your belly and your chest,
And as you exhale,
Sigh it out.
Take another big breath in,
And exhale,
Let go of something you've been carrying.
Take one more big breath in,
Allowing yourself to ground and root,
And exhale,
Let it out.
You have spent so much time living above your shoulders,
So much time in the world of thinking and doing,
Managing all of your thoughts.
Today we simply come home.
Feel the weight of yourself,
The air moving across your skin,
The rise and fall of your chest,
That faithful rhythm that has sustained you every moment of your life,
Whether you remember to notice it or not.
Place all of your attention at your feet,
These feet that have carried you forward.
Notice them.
Let them plant into the earth and say thank you,
Thank you to these feet that have walked one step at a time.
Through every dark moment,
Through every struggle and pain,
It has walked one step at a time to bring you to where you are,
And so we say thank you.
Then bring your attention to your legs,
How strong they are,
How they have kept you grounded and rooted,
And we say thank you for standing strong.
No matter what life has thrown at us,
We have stood strong,
And so we say thank you.
Bring your attention now to your stomach.
Place your hands there,
And notice,
Really notice what it feels like to hold yourself here,
And today we say thank you.
We don't judge,
We don't shame.
We say thank you to our stomach for all that it has processed,
The nutrients we feed it,
The difficulties of life that we have stomached and endured.
We say thank you,
And bring your attention now to your chest and your heart,
This place that is loved and lost,
Broken and open time and time again,
And somehow it keeps beating faithfully for us,
And so today we say thank you.
This place,
This is the center of your courage,
Your tenderness,
Your fire.
Breathe into this space and say thank you,
And now I want you to place all of your attention on your arms,
And wrap your arms around yourself,
And we'll say thank you.
Thank you to these arms that have stayed strong,
That have held so much for us,
Held so much joy and love and tenderness,
Have held grief,
And continue to move forward in life.
These arms are stronger than we know and realize,
And now they hold us in this moment,
And we say thank you,
And notice what it feels like to pay attention to your body for this one simple reason,
To say thank you,
And when you're ready,
You can slowly open your eyes and come back to the present moment,
Remembering this feeling of inhabiting your whole body with gratitude,
Honoring all of it,
Not just the parts you like,
Not just the parts that perform,
But every single part that has helped you move forward,
Calling you home.
