This 20-minute guided meditation is designed to ease you out of the busyness of the day and into deep, restful sleep. It works by gradually releasing physical tension, quieting the mind, and replacing thought with sensation — warmth, breath, and stillness. There's nothing to do and nothing to figure out — just let go, and allow sleep to arrive. Music: bensound.com License code: TLOVKQOFDLOTHH0Z Artist: : Benjamin Tissot

Welcome to this guided sleep meditation.

This meditation is designed to walk you gently from the busyness of your day all the way down into deep,

Restful sleep.

It works in stages,

First helping your body find comfort and ease,

Then guiding your breath and releasing physical tension,

And finally carrying your mind into a quiet,

Peaceful place where sleep can arrive naturally on its own.

You don't need to do anything to make sleep happen.

Your only job tonight is to follow along and let go.

If your mind wanders,

That's completely normal.

Just come back to the words,

Back to the breath,

Back to the moment.

Each time you return,

Finding yourself a little more relaxed than before.

By the end,

You may be asleep before the meditation is finished.

That's the goal.

Let it take you wherever it does.

Begin by finding your position for sleep.

You might lie on your back,

Or maybe curl gently on your side.

Taking a moment to make any small adjustments.

Maybe you need to shift your pillow.

Let your head find a comfortable position so your neck feels long and easy.

Maybe there's a spot on your back that needs to settle,

Or your shoulders want to roll back just slightly,

Or your hips want to shift a little to one side.

Listen to what your body is asking for,

And give it that.

Now pull your covers up to wherever feels right.

Feel the weight of them settle over you,

That gentle,

Even pressure,

Like being quietly held.

Notice the temperature of the air in the room.

Cool on your face,

Perhaps,

While your body is warm underneath.

Notice this contrast.

Cool air to breathe in,

Warmth wrapped around you.

Letting your head grow heavy on the pillow.

Feel the surface below you rising up gently to meet you,

Supporting the full weight of your body.

No need to hold it up.

No need to hold anything anymore.

Closing your eyes gently if you haven't already done so.

Taking a gentle breath in,

And letting it go.

And again,

Breathing in and releasing.

Notice how your body responds to the exhale.

A small settling,

A small release.

Like the whole body sighs gently.

There is nowhere you need to be right now.

Nothing you need to do.

No problem to solve.

No conversation to finish.

Whatever is unfinished from the day can wait.

It will still be there tomorrow.

But right now,

It belongs to tomorrow,

Not to tonight.

Tonight is for rest.

Letting your hands relax.

Uncurl your fingers if they're holding tension.

Letting the palms be soft and open.

And then scanning through the body to notice if there's any place you still might be holding or bracing.

Perhaps it's your stomach,

Your chest,

Your brow,

Your jaw.

Wherever you find this tension,

Just breathing into it and letting it soften.

Taking one more deep breath in now.

Long breath deep into your belly.

And then let it pour out of you completely.

Carrying with it any last traces of urgency.

Any lingering busyness from the day.

You are here.

You are safe.

You are still.

And now we'll move through the body slowly.

Releasing each area into rest.

Bringing your awareness to the top of your head.

Noticing your scalp and letting it soften.

Sensing the tiny muscles around your eyes,

Your brow.

And release them completely.

No expression on your face.

Just smooth and still.

Allow your jaw to rest slightly open.

Feeling the space between your upper and lower teeth.

Allowing your tongue to rest softly at the bottom of your mouth.

Allow the back of your neck to lengthen and soften against whatever is beneath it.

Relax the throat so the breath moves through it easily.

Effortlessly.

And now your shoulders.

Imagine they are slowly melting downward.

Away from your ears.

Further down.

A little more.

Allow your arms to grow heavy.

Your upper arms,

Elbows,

Forearms,

Wrists.

Let the heaviness travel all the way down into your hands.

Your palms.

Your fingers.

Noticing the rise and fall of the chest with each exhale.

Feel it release a little more.

Soften a little more.

Your heart is beating steadily,

Quietly.

Doing its work without any effort from you.

Your belly rises and falls.

Rises and falls.

Let your stomach be completely soft.

No tension.

Just warmth and ease.

And allowing your back to release.

You are fully held right now.

You do not need to hold yourself up.

The surface below you is doing that for you.

Letting your hips grow heavy.

Your thighs.

Your knees.

Calves and shins.

All releasing now.

Sinking down into stillness.

Your ankles,

Heels.

Arches of your feet.

And toes.

Let them soften completely.

Your whole body now is soft.

Heavy.

Still.

And now imagine you are standing at the top of a wide,

Gentle staircase.

The lighting here is soft and golden,

Like candlelight.

Warm and easy on the eyes.

The stairs lead downward.

And with each step you take,

You will feel yourself drifting deeper.

More peacefully.

More completely at rest.

Step 1.

You feel a wave of calm wash over you from head to toe.

Step 2.

Your thoughts are growing quieter now,

Further away.

Like voices fading down a long hallway.

Step 3.

You are even more relaxed than you were a moment ago.

Your body is beautifully heavy.

Step 4.

Even your thoughts are becoming soft now.

They float past like clouds.

You don't hold onto any of them.

They come and go on their own.

Step 5.

You are going deeper.

Perfectly safe.

Perfectly at ease.

Step 6.

The world above the staircase is far away now.

The noise of the day,

The lists and worries.

All of it is distant and quiet.

Step 7.

Deeper still.

You are wrapped in a soft,

Comfortable warmth now.

Step 8.

Your breathing has slowed even further.

Deep and steady.

Each exhale carrying you a little further into rest.

Step 9.

You are nearly at the bottom now.

Your mind is quiet like a still lake on a windless night.

Step 10.

You have arrived.

A place of complete peace and safety.

This place feels completely,

Perfectly warm.

The kind of warmth that starts deep inside the chest and spreads slowly outward.

Into your shoulders,

Your arms,

Your hands,

Down through your belly,

Your legs,

All the way to the soles of your feet.

And with that warmth comes a heaviness.

A beautiful,

Welcome heaviness.

As you slowly sink deeper into whatever is beneath you.

Releasing even more.

Held completely.

Your breath moves in and out.

No need to guide it.

It knows what to do.

In and out.

Resting in this feeling of warmth and weight and ease.

If a thought comes,

Allow it to pass through,

Like a cloud moving across a dark sky.

Here for a moment,

Then gone.

You don't need to follow the thought.

There is nothing to figure out tonight.

Nothing to carry.

You have done enough today.

You have been enough today.

Your breath is slow and deep.

In and out.

In.

The warmth around you is deepening now.

The heaviness is complete.

The soft hum of the world is fading.

You are sinking gently,

Warmly into the soft dark.

There is nothing to do here.

Nowhere to go.

Just this warmth.

This stillness.

This quiet.

Let yourself go now.

All the way into the dark.

Into the rest.

Into sleep.
