Good morning,
Before we begin this meditation,
I'd invite you to sit up,
If you can,
With your feet grounded on the floor,
Hands open wherever they fall.
Not rigid,
Just ready,
To let the body know something is about to happen,
And whatever your mind is doing right now,
Planning,
Doubting,
Running the list,
Just notice it,
You don't need to stop adding to it for just a few minutes.
So I'll invite you to now take a deep breath in through the nose,
And let it go through the mouth.
Now,
Think for a moment,
When you made something,
It doesn't matter what,
Perhaps something written,
Built,
Cooked,
Solved,
Something said,
A moment when something came through you that felt like it was coming from somewhere real.
That feeling is not a talent reserved for people who got told they were creative early,
It is a state of mind,
And states are accessible.
You are not trying to manufacture inspiration this morning,
You are making room for it.
With each inhale,
And with each exhale,
Release the need to know what it will look like before it arrives.
Inhale,
I trust what comes through me,
And I let go of the outcome.
And again,
Inhale,
I trust what comes through me.
It is quiet and useful,
Settling the nervous system into a kind of state where things arrive rather than being forced.
Creativity,
As you know,
Does not respond to pressure,
It responds to space.
And when you're ready,
Take one final,
Full,
Deep breath in,
All the way in,
And release.
And go and make something today,
Not perfectly,
Not carefully,
Just honestly,
Your way.
