Hi,
I'm Cara Bloom.
At bedtime in our home,
We love curling up with a story,
Especially one that feels like a soft adventure wrapped in wonder.
I like to take classic fairy tales and gently reimagine them,
Turning them into calming bedtime stories filled with kindness,
Courage,
And just the right touch of magic.
These are the stories I tell my own children,
And now I'm so happy to share them with you.
So snuggle in,
Take a slow breath,
And let the day melt away.
We're about to drift into a story together.
Dino Digger and the Lava Trail.
Tonight,
Let's head to Fire Fern Forest,
Where lava bubbles quietly beneath the roots and fireflies dance among the ferns.
Take a deep breath in and out.
Let your body settle in,
Feel your muscles relax.
You're safe here,
Ready for an adventure.
Dino Digger is on a mission.
He's delivering a basket of treats to his grandma,
Raptor's Burrow.
She's been feeling tired,
So Digger packed Dino cookies,
Hot leaf tea,
And a book of building plans.
Let's breathe again together in,
Two,
Three,
Out,
Two,
Three.
The path to her home runs right past the lava trail.
The path to her home runs right past the lava trail,
Where hot stones glow and sneaky dinos sometimes hide.
Stay on the path,
Said his mom,
And don't talk to strangers.
Digger nodded bravely.
He rolled out his scooter cart,
Humming a tune.
As he rolled through the forest,
He looked up at the glowing treetops and whispered,
I can do this.
Dino Digger took a deep breath in and a slow breath out.
Then he said to himself,
Brave and calm,
I am safe and strong.
He repeated it once more,
Brave and calm,
I am safe and strong.
His heart felt steady,
His wheels rolled on.
Halfway through the forest,
He saw someone peeking from behind a tree.
It was a tall dino with bright green eyes and a cloak of smoke.
This was Smoke Striker.
Hello there,
Smoke Striker said,
Where are you going with that basket?
Digger hesitated.
Just visiting my grandma,
He said carefully.
Let me help,
Said Smoke Striker.
I know a shortcut.
But Digger remembered his mom's words.
He shook his head,
No thanks,
He said and kept rolling.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
Feel proud of Dino Digger for listening to his instincts.
But Smoke Striker was fast.
He darted through the trees and reached Grandma Raptor's cave first.
He knocked and pretended to be Digger.
But Grandma Raptor was smart.
She peeked through the ferns and saw Smoke drifting from his tail.
You're not my grandson,
She said,
And she pressed her dino alarm pebble.
At that moment,
Digger arrived.
He saw Smoke and he knew something was wrong.
He stepped into the cave slowly and blinked at the shadowy figure in Grandma's nest.
Grandma,
Digger said carefully,
What big claws you have.
All the better to scratch the cave walls,
Came a grumbly voice.
Digger squinted,
And Grandma,
What sharp teeth you have.
All the better to crunch cookies,
Said the figure.
Digger took another step closer.
Grandma,
Are those new spikes on your tail?
All the better to swish away flies,
The voice said nervously.
He paused,
Took a deep breath in,
And a deep breath out.
Brave and calm,
I am safe and strong.
That's when Digger saw a wisp of smoke curling up from the blanket.
Get away from my grandma,
He shouted.
And with a brave stomp,
Thump,
Smoke striker gassed and tripped over a fern root,
Poof,
He vanished in a puff of soot.
Smoke striker gasped and tripped over a fern root,
Poof,
He vanished in a puff of soot.
Grandma raptor popped out of her hiding nook.
You were brave,
She said with a smile,
And she gave him a great big hug.
They sat down together,
Shared cookies and tea,
And built tiny cave shelves from pebbles and sticks.
Digger told her all about his day,
And she gave him another big hug.
Now let's take one last deep breath together.
In,
Two,
Three,
And out,
Two,
Three.
Snuggle in,
Little explorer.
The lava trail is calm,
The fireflies are glowing,
And you are safe.
Right here.
The day is done,
Your body is still,
Your breath is slow.
And Dino Digger is fast asleep.
Good night.
