Hello,
My friend.
This is Juliana,
And I'm so happy you're here today.
Today I'd like to begin by inviting you to take a few deep breaths.
And through your nose,
Gently pausing.
And then a full exhale through your mouth.
Today we are going to be creating and visualizing.
A calm place.
Now your calm place can be anywhere.
It can be real.
It can be imaginary.
You've been to it,
Perhaps you've seen it in a magazine or online.
There's so many options.
The purpose of a calm place is to provide a respite amongst the busyness of the world.
So just a place where you can retreat to and just encourage your body to take a little deep breath.
So the first step that I'd like you to begin thinking of is I want you to imagine that you're on a path.
And as you walk on this path.
You come up to a gate.
It could be a wood gate.
It could be metal or steel.
It doesn't really matter.
But when you approach this gate,
You begin to unlatch the hinge and open the gate.
Close up behind you.
And as you turn around.
I want you to see what the first thing is that comes to your mind.
When you visualize a calm place.
Perhaps you find yourself on a beach,
On a wooded mountaintop.
In a field full of flowers and grass.
Really,
Everyone is so different.
So it could be any of these or none of these.
It's entirely up to you.
Now as you spend time taking in your calm place,
I want to encourage you to tune up your senses.
Start to really notice what you see,
What you hear,
What you smell,
What you can feel.
And let your senses just soak in all the details of this space.
Matching the colors.
What time of day is it?
Feel the temperature.
Is there wind?
Is it calm?
Is it cold?
Is it hot?
Really enliven your senses.
As you visualize this space.
Now as you continue on that path.
Gently moving through your calm place.
You notice a bench.
And I want to invite you to take a moment to sit down on that bench.
As you make yourself comfortable.
And take a couple breaths in.
You continue to widen your gaze.
And take in the entirety of your calm place.
And again,
Just let it soak in,
Almost like if you've ever been in a hot tub and you kind of sink into that hot water slowly.
Just let those details soak in.
And as you continue to breathe,
Again noticing the smells.
The sounds.
You feel gratitude within your body that a place like this exists.
And that you can visit it anytime that you want.
Now as you're sitting on the bench.
I invite you to imagine standing up.
Stretching your arms to the sky.
Making a full circle.
Perhaps you stretch a little bit more.
Wiggle your fingers.
And take in a final glance into this space.
And then I invite you.
To return to the path that originally led you in.
And gently make your way.
Back to that gate.
And as you reach the gate,
You do a final bow.
Look at your calm place,
Just taking it in,
Appreciating it for its beauty and for the peace that it evokes in your body,
Brain,
Heart and soul.
And you reach for the latch,
Gently pull open the gate.
Exit.
And pull it behind you.
And as you do that,
You notice a key hanging there.
And realize that it's a key.
That can lock and unlock the gate.
So you,
My friend,
Have the ability anytime you want to use that key to enter,
To spend time there.
And to safely secure it when you'd like to.
So you slip that key in your pocket and again just feeling the gratitude for this calm place.
And over the next few days,
I encourage you to visualize this place that you've created.
Visualize it in calm moments.
Visualize it in moments where you need some extra.
Peace and regulation.
And then as we wrap up our meditation today,
I invite you to take a few deep breaths.
To notice your feet on the ground.
And wiggle your toes.
I appreciate you joining me today.
And I invite you to return again tomorrow.
For another meditation and also to continue practicing this calm place visualization.
Thank you and may you be well.
