Welcome,
And thank you for joining me.
This meditation is titled,
Reset,
A 5-minute practice for stress,
Calm,
And focus.
This practice offers a simple way to reset and refocus,
By gently slowing and steadying the breath,
Allowing the body to release tension,
And the mind to begin to settle.
Let's begin.
Find a position that feels natural and supportive,
Seated or lying down,
Whatever feels right for you in this moment.
When you're ready,
Gently close your eyes.
Begin by noticing your natural breath.
No need to change anything,
Just feel the air moving in and out of your body.
In this practice,
We'll lightly guide the breath,
By drawing from a traditional Zen technique that's used to steady the nervous system and calm the mind.
As you inhale,
I'd like you to count to yourself,
1.
As you exhale,
Count 2.
Inhale 3.
Exhale 4.
Continue in this way all the way to 10,
And when you reach 10,
Begin again at 1.
If you lose count,
That's completely okay.
Just come back to 1 and start over.
Let's do one round together.
Inhale 1.
And exhale 2.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Go ahead and start again at 1 now,
And continue on your own,
Allowing the rhythm of the music to guide your breath.
If the mind begins to wander and pull you into thoughts,
Just notice it,
And then gently return to 1,
Bringing your attention back to the breath.
As we come to the end of this practice,
Begin to let go of the counting,
And start to notice the space around you again.
Let's take one slow breath in,
And now let it go with a nice,
Long,
Slow exhale.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
You can return to this practice any time,
Day or night,
Whenever the mind begins to feel busy or the body needs a moment of rest.
Thank you for practicing with me.
You're always welcome here.
Namaste.
