Take a moment to settle in to a comfortable position.
Allow your body to rest exactly as it is.
There is nothing you need to change.
Nothing you need to accomplish here.
For these next few minutes.
Give yourself permission to just simply be.
If it feels comfortable,
Gently close your eyes.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
And exhale slowly through your mouth.
And again,
Breathing in calm.
And exhaling any tension you've been carrying.
One more deep,
Full breath in.
Expanding the belly.
And exhale long and slow.
As your breathing begins to settle into its own natural rhythm.
Notice the weight of your body beneath you.
Feel the support.
Of the bed or chair beneath you.
You don't need to hold yourself up right now.
Let Mother Earth or the surface beneath you hold your weight.
Begin by allowing your shoulders to soften.
Relax your jaw.
Allow your forehead to become soft.
Unclench your fists.
With every breath.
Imagine your body becoming just a little heavier.
And your mind becoming a little quieter.
And in your mind's eye,
I'd like you to picture yourself.
Just arriving at a beautiful,
Quiet beach.
Imagine it's early morning and the world is still waking up.
The air feels cool against your skin.
Carrying the fresh scent of salt water mixed with the clean fragrance of the sea.
Every breath feels crisp and refreshing as though the ocean itself is gently clearing away all the noises in your mind.
Pause here for just a moment.
Taking another slow,
Deep breath in through the nose.
Look around at this beach.
Notice the sky stretches endlessly above you.
Painted with the soft shades of pale blue.
Warm golds and gentle pinks as the morning sun begins to rise.
Tiny wisps of clouds drift lazily overhead,
Moving without hurry.
Notice how wide the horizon is.
There's no walls,
No deadlines.
No pressure.
Just open space.
As your eyes wander across the water.
Watch the waves rise.
Curl and gently melt onto the shore before quietly slipping back into the sea.
Each wave arrives.
Each wave leaves.
Nothing struggles.
Nothing rushes.
The ocean simply flows.
Begin walking slowly along the shoreline.
Feel the cool sand beneath your bare feet.
Notice how it gives way slightly with every step.
Gently cushioning you.
You notice that some places feel soft and powdery.
And others are cool and firm where the waves have smoothed the shore.
Feel the tiny grains of sand between your toes.
As another wave rolls in,
Cool seawater washes over your feet.
It makes you feel refreshed and alive.
And for just a moment,
The water swirls around your ankles before gently flowing back into the ocean.
Taking with it any tension you've been carrying.
Imagine every retreating wave washing away another layer of stress.
Another layer of worry.
Another layer of heaviness.
As you continue walking,
Become aware of the sounds surrounding you.
The rhythmic rise and fall of the waves.
The gentle fizz as bubbles disappear into the sand.
The distant cry of seabirds soaring effortlessly overhead.
Whisper of the breeze dancing through the tall beech grass.
Even the quiet sound of your own footsteps reminds you that you are here.
You are safe.
Grounded.
And present.
Notice the warmth of the morning sun as it gently kisses your face.
Your shoulders,
Your arms.
It's comforting.
Like a soft blanket of light wrapping its arms around you.
With every step,
The warmth sinks deeper into your muscles,
Inviting them to just let go.
Notice the breeze moving across your skin.
Cooling against your cheeks.
Gentle through your hair.
It feels as though nature itself is breathing with you.
Gentle inhale.
The fresh ocean air fills your lungs.
And exhale,
Allow your body to release what it no longer needs.
Again,
Breathing in peace.
Exhaling anxiety.
Breathing in light.
Exhale the heaviness.
As you walk,
You notice something beautiful.
Tiny seashells scattered across the shoreline.
Each one unique.
You take a moment,
You bend down and pick one up.
You run your fingers gently across its surface.
Feeling the smooth curves,
Tiny ridges.
Looking in awe at the shit years.
Shaped its beauty by the ocean.
Hold it for a moment.
Notice its weight.
Its texture.
It's beauty.
Allow it to remind you that life doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.
You place the shell gently back into the sand,
Knowing it is exactly where it is supposed to be.
Just as you belong exactly where you are.
And ahead you find a large piece of driftwood resting near the water's edge.
You sit down comfortably.
Taking in the view before you.
The endless ocean.
The endless sky.
The steady rhythm of the waves.
You come to realize.
The ocean never stops moving.
Sometimes its surface is calm.
Sometimes storms pass through.
But beneath every wave is a deep stillness.
Your mind is the same.
Thoughts may come.
Worries may appear.
Emotions may rise and fall.
But beneath them is a quiet place that has always been there.
A place of peace.
A place of strength.
A place you can always return to.
Rest there now.
See if you can pick five things you see around you on this beautiful beach.
Perhaps the shimmering sunlight dancing across the water.
The delicate seashells.
The soft puffy white clouds.
The beautiful rolling waves.
The distant horizon.
And then notice four things you can feel.
The warm sunlight.
The cool breeze.
The firm driftwood beneath you.
The steady rhythm of your own breath.
And notice three things you can hear.
The waves.
The seagulls.
The breeze.
Now notice two things you can smell.
The salty ocean air.
And the fresh scent carried by the wind.
And lastly,
Notice one thing you can just almost taste.
Like the faint salt on your lips left behind by the sea breeze.
Take a slow breath here.
Feel yourself completely present.
Grounded.
And allow yourself to silently repeat.
I am here.
I am safe.
I am supported.
I can let this moment be enough.
My thoughts do not control me.
And like the waves,
They come and they go.
Peace remains.
Stay here for a few quiet moments,
Simply breathing.
Feeling lighter with every exhale.
And calmer with every inhale.
More connected to yourself with every passing wave.
Now it's time to gently return.
Take one slow,
Nourishing breath in.
And slowly let it go.
Begin bringing your awareness back to your body.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Notice the natural rhythm of your breath.
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes.
Roll your shoulders softly.
Knowing that the calm you've created isn't staying on the beach,
It's coming with you.
You can return to this place anytime you need to.
You'll do this by simply closing your eyes.
Taking a deep breath in and remember the sound of the waves.
When you're ready,
You can open your eyes.
Carry this feeling of peace,
Steadiness,
And lightness into the rest of your day.
But before you go,
Just remember,
No matter what the world brings,
You always have the ability to come back home to yourself.
