Transcript

Today's meditation is about transforming stress into motivation and drive.

This session is designed to help you anytime you're feeling overwhelmed,

Whether it's in the morning before a busy day,

As a midday break,

Or in the evening to prepare for a hectic day tomorrow.

We will begin by releasing the physical tension that stress creates in the body.

Meditation will shift our mental state from passive stress to energetic excitement for the challenges ahead.

Start by finding a comfortable position,

Either sitting or lying down.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in through your nose,

Filling your lungs completely.

Hold for a moment and then slowly exhale through your mouth,

Letting go of any tension you might be holding onto.

Take a few deep breaths here at your own pace.

Bring awareness to your body,

Starting with your toes,

Allow them to relax completely.

Notice any sensations or tightness in your feet,

And as you exhale,

Let that tension melt away.

Move your attention up to your ankles and calves.

With each breath out,

Imagine the muscles in your lower legs softening and releasing.

Next,

Bring your focus to your knees and thighs.

As you breathe in,

Notice any tightness,

And as you breathe out,

Let it go.

Feel your legs become heavier and more at ease.

Shift your attention to your hips and lower back.

Take a moment to notice how they feel.

On your next exhale,

Imagine this area loosening,

The muscles unwinding and relaxing.

Now bring your awareness to your stomach and your chest.

As you breathe in,

Notice how your stomach and chest rise,

And as you breathe out,

Notice how they fall.

If you're holding tension here,

Imagine it dissolving with each exhale.

Let your breath flow naturally,

Deepening your sense of relaxation.

Move up to your upper back and shoulders,

Common places for stress to accumulate.

Take a deep breath in,

Drawing your shoulders up slightly,

And then exhale slowly,

Allowing them to drop and fully relax.

Now focus on your arms,

Starting at your upper arms and moving down to your forearms,

Wrists,

And hands.

With each exhale,

Let go of any tightness.

Feel your arms becoming heavy and relaxed,

Your hands soft and at ease.

Finally,

Focus on your face.

Notice if you're holding tension in your jaw,

Around your eyes,

Or in your forehead.

Take a deep breath in,

And as you exhale,

Allow these areas to soften.

Follow your breath for the next few minutes.

If you find it easier to focus with words,

Try mentally saying here on the inhale and now on the exhale,

In sync with your breath.

Now let's turn our attention to the mental experience of stress.

Stress often arises when we feel overwhelmed by things outside of our control.

Too many tasks or external demands pulling us in every direction.

This can create anxiety and a sense of powerlessness.

This is where we can shift our perspective.

In psychology,

There's a concept called an internal locus of control.

This is the belief that your actions and the choices you make directly influence the outcomes in your life.

You may not control everything that happens,

But you can always control how you respond.

Think about the primary source of stress in your life right now.

Maybe it's a project,

A deadline,

Or a difficult relationship.

Whatever it is,

Recognize that on some level,

You chose this.

You are in this situation because of decisions you've made,

And that's a good thing.

It means you have the power to focus your energy in a way that improves the outcome.

As you focus on the stressor,

Take a deep breath in,

Exhale slowly,

Imagining yourself stepping back and creating space between you and the stress.

It is in this space that we have the power to change our perspective and ultimately our actions.

Ask yourself,

What can I control here?

What actions can I take right now to influence the outcome?

Maybe it's breaking the task into smaller steps,

Asking for help,

Or simply changing your mindset.

Remember,

While you can't control everything,

You always control your response.

You are not a victim of circumstance.

You are the driver of your life.

Next,

Take a moment to reflect on what you can be grateful for in this challenge.

Often in stressful situations,

There's always something to appreciate.

Whether it's the opportunity to grow,

Learn,

Or simply prove your resilience to yourself.

This stress is not here to defeat you.

It's here to make you stronger.

Recognize this challenge as an opportunity to make you a better version of yourself.

Now consider how the physical sensations of stress,

Like a racing heart or quickened breath,

Are similar to what we experience when we're excited.

Stress and excitement are closely related.

Both are simply states of heightened energy.

Instead of viewing stress as a burden,

Imagine it as a surge of energy that is yours to harness.

It is a signal that your body and mind are preparing you to take action.

Visualize yourself taking proactive steps towards addressing the source of your stress,

Feeling a sense of purpose and determination.

Take a few minutes here in silence to just allow yourself to feel that excitement building within you,

Using the energy of stress,

Transforming it into enthusiasm and readiness.

When you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

Step into the rest of your day with renewed clarity,

Purpose,

And excitement to turn challenges into opportunities.
