Venus and Earth's moon,
Leo is making a trip to the red planet,
Mars.

Leo looked out at the stars twinkling through his window.
They seemed to whisper softly,
Calling him to explore.
He smiled,
Feeling that quiet spark of curiosity again.
I wonder what Mars is really like,
He said to himself.
Maybe I'll go and see.
He tiptoed to his little silver rocket parked by the window and climbed inside.
The controls lit up gently,

Leo took a deep breath and counted down slowly.

The rocket hummed and rose into the starry sky,
Past the clouds,
Past the moon and out into the deep,
Peaceful dark of space.
Leo looked back at Earth,
Shining blue and green behind him.
He waved and whispered,

Mars began to glow faintly red,
A warm light like the colour of sunset.
After a calm journey through the quiet of space,
Leo's rocket began to slow.
The surface of Mars came into view,
Soft red sands,
Golden hills and gentle swirls of dust moving in the sunlight.
He landed gently and slipped into his space suit.
The rocket door opened with a quiet hiss and Leo stepped carefully out into the marching light.
His boots touched the golden red dust and the ground felt light and springy beneath his feet.
Each step made him float just a little before settling again.
So this is Mars,
He whispered,
Watching the dust sparkle like tiny embers in the sunlight.
A faint breeze drifted past,
Carrying a soft swirl of red dust around his boots.
It wasn't like wind on Earth,

Like a soft sigh from the planet itself.
In the distance,
Low hills curved gently against the golden sky,
The edges glowing in the afternoon light.
Leo hopped forward,
Leaving gentle footprints in the sand.
As he explored,

Smooth rock half buried in the dust.
It gleamed darkly,
Almost like glass.
Kneeling down,
Leo brushed it clean and turned it over in his hands.
The surface shimmered with tiny specks of silver,
Sparkling as the sunlight touched them.
It's beautiful,
He whispered.
It wasn't just a rock,
It was volcanic glass,
Formed long ago when Mars' surface was still fiery and alive.
Leo imagined the story it carried.
Heat,
Pressure,
And now quiet peace.
He held it close for a moment,
Feeling the warmth that had gathered from the sun.
Somehow that warmth seemed to flow through him too,
Calm and steady.
He smiled.

Leo stood still and breathed in the silence.

Leo felt his eyes growing heavy.
He climbed back into his rocket,

He snuggled under his blankets and closed his eyes.

He could still see the warm red glow of Mars.
He took a deep,
Slow breath in through his nose and out through his mouth.
Now he began a gentle body scan,
Imagining that beautiful red light moving slowly through his body,
Bringing calm and relaxation.
