Hi everyone and welcome.
This is a yoga nidra practice to invite you to take some deep breaths to take the seat of the witness and to allow for whatever is coming up to be revealed within the self.
The word yoga means to yoke or to bring together and the word nidra the ni means void and the dra means to draw forth or reveal.
So in the practice of yoga nidra when we enter into this state the state of consciousness this state of deep rest we are yoking bringing together the consciousness and the void to draw forth or reveal whatever is rising within.
So settle in choose a place to sit or lie down ideally lying down with the eyes closed if that's available to you where you are and if it's not choosing your seat and settling in.
I invite you to close your eyes if it feels safe and comfortable for you to do so beginning to feel the heaviness of the eyelids over your eyes and we will begin a gentle body scan to invite in a sense of relaxation into all parts of the self.
Start by feeling yourself being held and supported on the surface that you're sitting or lying on.
Allow the weight of your body to become heavy.
Unclench your jaw and relax the tiny muscles around your eyes.
Gently tuck your chin to elongate the back of the neck.
Allow your ankles to relax and your feet to fall as they will.
Choose your hand placement.
Palms face up for receiving or face down for more of a grounding energy.
You may choose to put both hands in the lap or on the pelvis or one hand on the heart and one on the belly and we'll begin.
Starting at the crown of the head,
The forehead,
The cheeks,
The back of the head,
The base of the neck,
The upper jaw,
The lower jaw,
The tongue,
Your throat,
The upper back,
The shoulders,
The right upper arm,
Right elbow,
Right forearm,
Right wrist,
Back of the right hand,
Palm of the right hand,
All five fingers on the right hand,
The whole right arm,
Back up across the collar bones,
Over to the left shoulder,
The left upper arm,
Left elbow,
Left forearm,
Left wrist,
Back of the left hand,
Palm of the left hand,
All five fingers on the left hand,
Whole left arm,
Back up to the collar bone area and the high heart.
The upper back,
The rib cage,
The belly,
Lower back,
Pelvic area,
Down the right leg,
The right hip and right buttocks,
Right upper thigh,
Right knee,
Right lower leg,
Right ankle,
Top of the right foot,
Bottom of the right foot,
All five toes.
Back up into the pelvic bowl area,
The left hip and the left buttocks,
The left thigh,
Left knee,
Left lower leg,
Left ankle,
Top of the left foot,
Bottom of the left foot,
All five toes on the left.
A full relaxation through both legs,
Allowing yourself to become even heavier,
Allowing yourself to be held in this moment.
And begin to imagine a light shining in from the crown of the head and filling your whole body from the crown of the head to the tips of the toes.
This light energy shines into the face,
Spilling down into the neck and both arms,
Into the chest and the torso and the back,
The pelvic bowl and the hips,
All the way down both legs.
And into the feet and the toes.
This light energy fills you completely and wholly,
Clearing out any stagnant energy.
Begin to imagine that the tips of your toes open and as they do,
This light energy pours out,
Draining from the top of your head down,
Draining out of the body and taking with it anything that isn't serving your highest self.
As this liquid pours out of the body and spills all around you,
It is then absorbed into the earth where she knows how to transmute the energy.
The last drops of light leave the body.
You seal up your toes and the crown of your head,
Feeling complete,
Whole,
Taking just a moment here in this space to ask if there's any messages that you need to receive.
If there's anything that you need to know and taking a moment to say thank you.
Thank you to yourself for taking this time.
And when you're ready,
Beginning to wiggle your fingers and your toes and inviting yourself back.
Welcome home.
