Let's prepare to meditate.
Adjust your body so that you are sitting comfortably.
Close your eyes.
Rest your hands on your lap in any way that is comfortable for you.
Take a nice filling breath in.
Breathe deeply in through your nose and breathe out slowly through your mouth.
Do this again.
Now when you exhale,
Breathe out with a long sigh.
Do this breathing again a few more times to settle your mind and body.
You are ready to begin.
Picture yourself sitting outside in the soft grass.
Around you,
You are surrounded by eight little kittens or puppies.
Imagine whichever one makes you the happiest.
Imagine looking at and then counting each one.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Six.
Seven.
Which one seems to be the laziest?
Which one is the most playful?
What colors are these puppies or kittens?
All at once,
The puppies or kittens run clumsily toward you,
Trying to clamber up your body to lick your face.
You're giggling and smiling as they tumble over you and over each other,
Trying to get to you.
You laugh and fall backwards into the grass behind you,
And they climb over you pawing at your clothes,
Playing with your hair,
Licking you all at once.
It's a puppy or kitten ambush.
You can't help but laugh as they all try to lick your face at once.
One of them sticks their little snout right in your ear,
And it gives you a little shiver,
And you laugh even harder.
You laugh with your full belly,
A smile stretching across your face.
The mother dog or cat comes trotting toward you and lays down at your feet.
The little ones immediately begin to settle with the presence of their mother.
They lie down around you.
A couple of them curl up into your arms,
Some by your feet,
Some with their mother,
And some stay up around your face.
Imagine petting some of them softly as they all fall asleep with you,
Lying in the sun.
As our meditation comes to a close,
Draw your attention back to your real body.
Notice and feel where your body is touching the floor or chair.
Wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes.
Take a deep breath.
Now go ahead and stretch out your body in any way that feels good to you.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes.
Now go out and find the magic in your day.
