Welcome,
Dear one.
My name is Jacob Evans,
And I'm honored to hold you through this bedtime talk-down meditation tonight.
If you're here,
Maybe your heart has grown tired of bracing,
Always waiting for the storm,
Even when the sky is quiet.
This meditation is for the part of your nervous system that's learned to expect loss.
The part that finds it hard to trust in peace,
In love,
In joy that stays.
It's designed to gently reprogram those patterns,
To help your body feel safe again,
So you can rest in the goodness that's here now,
And open to all that's still coming your way.
You're safe to let go,
And it's okay to rest.
Lay your body down gently.
There's nothing you need to carry right now.
You don't have to watch the horizon.
You don't have to keep the sky from falling,
Not tonight.
Let your shoulders drop.
Let the breath ease in and out.
Let the earth beneath you remind you,
You are supported,
You are safe.
You've done enough for today,
Truly,
It is enough.
You've held enough,
And you've made it through more than most will ever understand.
And now,
You get to rest.
If you listen closely,
You might notice that even in the quiet,
There's a part of you still holding on.
A silent lookout,
Perched at the edge of your awareness,
Scanning for the next storm,
The next goodbye,
The next moment when the good might vanish.
Maybe,
This part of you never really learned how to rest,
Because somewhere along the way,
You were taught that stillness was dangerous.
That trust was foolish,
That every soft thing would be taken.
There's a part of you,
Perhaps still young,
Perhaps tired beyond measure,
That doesn't trust goodness.
It doesn't trust joy.
It's seen joy disappear.
It's seen safety vanish.
It's lived through the moment when everything felt okay,
And then it wasn't.
And so now,
Even in the calm,
You're bracing.
Even in love,
You're preparing to lose it.
Even in rest,
Your body doesn't quite believe it's allowed to let go.
Maybe your nervous system feels more at home in the storm than in the light,
Because the storm,
At least,
Feels familiar,
Predictable.
You know how to be alone.
You know how to survive.
But,
My dearest,
You are not meant to survive forever.
You are meant to live,
To love,
To soften,
To feel safe in arms that do not vanish,
To rest in moments that do not break.
There is a part of you that holds the belief,
This must be how life is.
Don't trust joy.
Don't trust connection,
For it never lasts.
And maybe that belief kept you safe once,
But it's not the truth of who you are anymore.
You are learning how to stay,
How to trust,
How to believe that not everything good must leave.
You are allowed to exhale now.
You were never meant to be the guard dog of your own heart.
There was once a boy who stood on the shore,
Bare feet pressed into the sand,
The wind curling and whipping through his hair like it had something to say.
His brother was with him and together they watched a storm roll in across the horizon.
The clouds were thick and silver,
Like a great ocean in the sky folding in on itself.
And the boy could feel it coming,
Not just the rain,
But something deeper,
That familiar tightening in his chest,
The alertness in his body,
The readiness for the storm.
Most of his life he would have braced,
Tensed up,
Prepared to be ripped away again.
But something was different this time.
As the first drops began to fall,
He felt that old discomfort,
The instinct to run,
To protect,
To shut down.
But instead,
He stepped forward,
He walked into the rain,
And then he ran,
He danced,
He threw his arms out wide and let the sky fall on him.
He laughed,
He let the rain soak him,
Not as punishment,
But as a blessing.
And in that moment,
He didn't lose anything.
He didn't have to say goodbye.
He wasn't abandoned.
In fact,
He found something,
A joy he hadn't felt in a long,
Long time,
A wild,
Wordless kind of peace.
Even when he hurt his foot,
He didn't stop.
He was bleeding,
But he didn't flinch,
Because his heart was full,
Because for the first time he realized he didn't have to fear the storm.
Not every wave comes to take something away.
Not every change is a loss.
And maybe,
Just maybe,
This moment wasn't preparing him for grief.
Maybe it was preparing him for life.
And in that moment,
Something inside of him shifted.
The old story,
The one that said,
Don't trust the good,
Don't trust love.
It always leaves,
It softened.
Because he was still there,
In the rain,
In his body,
In the joy.
And nothing had been taken away from him,
Only given.
You are not being left.
Not tonight,
Not now.
This peace,
This love,
This comfort that's been gifted to you,
It's not slipping away.
It's here.
It's here to stay in your heart.
And you don't have to prepare for it to go.
You can rest in it.
You can trust in it to stay.
You are not losing anything by receiving.
The love that is yours cannot be taken.
You are allowed to exhale.
You are safe to rest.
You are safe to let go.
To fully trust that you are held.
To trust the quiet.
To trust the space between breaths.
To believe this time,
The light,
The love,
The joy can stay.
I know you're scared.
Scared that it won't last.
Scared to fully lean in.
Because who could possibly hold you?
You've had to hold yourself for so long.
One foot always planted,
Just in case.
Just in case it disappears.
But love will never fail you.
Love,
Whether it comes from your own heart,
From the breath of mother earth,
From God,
Or from another soul on this earth,
Real love will always hold.
It won't leave you behind.
It won't vanish when you finally let go.
It's never ending.
Unshakeable.
You are safe.
You are loved.
You are held.
There is no storm coming.
Only peace.
Only quiet.
You don't have to prepare.
You don't have to watch the sky.
You can close your eyes now.
You can rest.
You don't have to be ready for impact anymore.
You don't have to brace.
You don't have to keep your armor on.
There's nothing to do.
Nothing to prove.
Nothing to fix.
You can just be.
You can be in your being.
That's enough.
That's more than enough.
You're safe now.
Safe to feel.
Safe to soften.
Safe to receive.
You are not being left.
You are being loved.
You don't have to prepare for the storm anymore.
You don't have to look over your shoulder.
There is no leaving happening here.
There is no loss unfolding.
You can rest.
You can trust that the love you feel is real.
That the joy you're being given doesn't have to vanish.
That the goodness in your life isn't a trick.
You can receive what you deeply desire without believing it will be ripped away.
You can enjoy what you have without fearing it will leave.
Let your body remember this.
Let your heart believe this.
And if it helps,
You can gently repeat.
I am safe to trust.
I am safe to receive.
I am safe to rest in the good.
I am safe to trust.
I am safe to receive.
I am safe to rest in the good.
I am safe to trust.
I am safe to receive.
I am safe to rest in the good.
Now let those words carry you.
Into the quiet.
Into the stillness.
Into peace.
