Welcome to the Inside the Body series.
A space where we explore the healing intelligence of the body through rest,
Breath,
And awareness.
Today's journey is the nervous system reset.
Take this time just for you.
Find a comfortable position where your body can be supported.
If it feels comfortable,
Gently close your eyes.
Take a slow breath.
In through the nose.
And softly exhale.
Again,
Breathing in.
And letting go.
One more time.
Full inhale.
Easy slow exhale.
There is nowhere else to be right now.
Nothing to solve.
Nothing to figure out.
Just this moment.
Just this breath.
Begin to notice the body as it is.
Without needing anything to change.
Notice where there may be tension.
Notice where the body may still be holding alertness.
Notice where it may be waiting for the next thing.
It's okay to still feel on edge.
This is not failure.
This is a nervous system that has been trying to protect you.
Right now.
We are helping it remember safety.
Imagine traveling inward now.
Into the body's communication network.
The nervous system.
You may picture pathways of light.
Golden threads.
Or gentle rivers carrying messages throughout the body.
The system is always asking.
Am I safe?
Do I need to defend?
Can I rest?
And today.
We are offering a new answer.
Take a slow breath in.
And a long breath out.
As you exhale,
Imagine a warm,
Calming signal moving from the brain.
Maybe it has a color,
A shape.
A sensation,
You decide.
And this signal is moving down through the face.
Through the jaw,
Softening it.
The throat.
The shoulders,
Softening the shoulders.
Through the chest.
The belly,
Softening the belly.
The hips.
The legs.
And all the way down to the feet.
A wave of safety.
Again,
Inhale gently.
Exhaling very slowly.
This warm and calming signal reaches every nerve in the body.
You do not need to stay braced right now.
You do not need to stay on guard right now.
You may soften.
Notice the jaw.
Move it around,
Let it loosen.
Notice the shoulders.
And drop.
Notice the hands.
Let them unclench.
Notice the belly.
Allow it to soften and take that full breath in.
Our body often holds stress in places we forget to check.
Offer those places gentleness now.
Now imagine a nervous system as a dial.
Perhaps it has been turned on high.
Always scanning.
Always ready.
And always buzzing in the background.
In your mind.
Gently place your hand on that dial.
And slowly.
With kindness,
With gentleness.
Turn it down.
Nah,
Nah.
Was down.
Enough for the body to breathe again.
Enough for the healing to begin again.
Enough for peace to return.
Take a breath in.
And as you exhale,
Silently say,
I am safe in this moment.
And again,
Inhale.
And exhale.
There is nothing to chase.
Again,
Inhale and exhale.
There is nothing urgent in this moment.
Inhale.
And on your exhale,
I can rest in this moment.
One more breath in.
And on the exhale,
My body can soften.
Now imagine a warm light filling the chest.
The heart area softening.
Your breath moving freely.
Body receiving the message.
We are no longer in an emergency mode.
We are here.
We are now.
We are okay in this moment.
The nervous system learns through repetition.
Through gentleness.
Through moments of safety practiced again.
And again.
So each time you pause,
Each time you breathe slowly.
Each time you unclench your jaw or soften your shoulders.
You are teaching your body something new.
You are teaching at peace.
And they were teaching at ease.
Now ask gently.
What would help me feel supported today?
Listen without pressure.
Perhaps it's rest.
A small moment of pause.
Maybe it's water,
Nourishment,
Fresh air,
Time in nature.
Maybe a slower pace,
A boundary set.
Or connecting with someone you care about.
Perhaps it's quiet.
Trust what comes.
If it feels comfortable,
Place one hand on the heart.
And one hand on the belly.
Feel the rise and fall of the breath.
Your body is here with you.
Working for you.
Learning with you.
Healing with you.
Take one final deep breath in.
And a slow exhale.
Wiggle the fingers,
Move the toes,
Gently bring some movement back to the body.
When you are ready.
Open your eyes.
Thank you for joining me in the Inside the Body series.
May you move through the rest of your day feeling supported by the wisdom within you.
