Find a comfortable position.
You can close your eyes if that feels natural or simply soften your gaze.
Bring your attention to your breath,
Just observing the natural rhythm of your body.
Inhale and exhale slowly.
Allow your body to fully rest on the surface beneath you.
Feel how little by little everything begins to settle.
Now bring your attention to the state you are in without trying to change anything.
There may be calm,
There may be restlessness or perhaps something more subtle,
Difficult to name,
Just observe.
Sometimes,
Experiences pass but their effect remains,
A conversation,
A thought,
An emotion and even though the moment has already ended,
Something of it may still be present,
Nothing if there is something in you that is staying,
A sensation,
An emotion,
A story that repeats itself again in your mind,
Without judging,
Without rushing,
Just observing.
There is a natural part of how the mind works,
A kind of inertia,
A tendency to continue.
There is nothing to fix.
Now instead of pushing that sensation away or just trying to make it disappear,
Allow it to be,
But observe it as something in motion,
Like the water flowing in the river,
Or clouds moving across the sky with the wind.
Perhaps you can notice that even what seems fixed change,
Sensation,
Look to it,
The breath moves,
Though arise and dissolve.
Stay here for a few moments observing that subtle change,
That natural capacity for transformation and if something is still present,
Gentle,
Allowed to have more space,
As if it is no longer needed to hold on.
With each exhale,
Invite the body and mind to let go a little more,
Without forcing it,
Just allowing.
Little by little,
Return to the breath,
To the contact with your body,
To the present moment and when it feels right,
You can open your eyes.
