Our morning cup of coffee or tea.
Routines are a wonderful opportunity to deepen our meditation practice and bring a sense of mindful awareness into our day.
The practice of mindful awareness helps us to calm the mind and body.
Come into the present moment.
So we can show up in the rest of our day with greater presence and purpose.
Mindful awareness can turn a simple cup of coffee or tea into something much more.
Let's try it now.
If you haven't already.
Go ahead and make yourself a cup of coffee or tea.
And when you're ready,
Find a quiet space where you won't be disturbed for the next couple of minutes.
If this isn't possible.
That's okay too.
The wonderful thing about the morning coffee meditation is that it's totally inconspicuous.
There's no need to close your eyes or.

Let anyone know what you're doing.
It's simply an inner shift.
Into your awareness.
When you're settled in with your coffee or tea.
Have the intention to come fully into the present moment.
Just a subtle intention.
How is your body feeling right now?
What is your mood like?
Does it feel heavy?
Or light.
Do you feel settled?
Or agitated.
Rushed or relaxed.
Simply noticing your current state.
Now look around at your space.
What do you see?
If you're at home.
Take a moment to notice and appreciate the objects and personal touches that make this space uniquely yours.
Look down at your hands.
Wrap your fingers around the warm cup.
Being careful not to burn yourself.
Feel the warmth in your hands.
The satisfying weight of the cup.
Lift the cup to your nose.
Noticing the way your hands and arms move.
Inhale the rich aroma of the coffee.
Let yourself savor it as you breathe deeply.
Let yourself arrive in the here and the now.
As you practice this sort of mindful awareness.
Your attention will drift to other things in the past or future.
Maybe your mind keeps going back to something that happened yesterday or.

Worrying about something that's going to happen today.
The mind works so hard.
Let's simply let the mind rest.
All you need to do is enjoy the aroma of your morning coffee.
As you breathe in.
Feel yourself relaxing.
As you breathe out.
Let go of anything that's not right here,
Right now.
Breathe in… come into the present moment?
Breathe out.
Feel your shoulders drop.
Your body softened.
Now,
Lift the cup to your lips and take a sip.
Feel the heat in your mouth.
Hold the coffee or tea there for a moment.
And let the taste fully register.
Now as you swallow.
Feel the warmth travel down your throat.
Than your belly.
Imagine this warmth spreading throughout your whole body.
Comforting you.
Relaxing you.
Setting the tone for your entire day.
If your mind gets distracted with other thoughts.
Just let them be.
Right now,
There's no need to react or do anything about them.
Tell yourself it's okay to do nothing for a couple of minutes.
Let your mind and body rest.
Take another sip.
Feel the cup against your lips.
The warmth traveling through your body.
Now notice any sounds you can hear within your own body.
The sound of your breathing.
Maybe the sound of your tummy saying,
Thank you for the coffee or tea.
As you continue to sip and enjoy this morning ritual.
You may find your mind has wandered.
Whenever this happens,
Simply bring your attention back to your cup of coffee or tea.
To the here and now.
Let yourself enjoy sitting in silence.
Savoring the moment.
Whenever you're ready to resume your day.
Have the intention for this calm presence to settle in your body and carry over into everything you do today.
You can bring this practice of mindful awareness into any routine you like.
Try it while getting dressed in the morning.
While cooking.
Doing the dishes or brushing your teeth.
Any of these simple routines can become a time you give yourself to rest,
