Sometimes,
When the mind feels particularly busy or scattered,
Being guided in meditation can be really supportive.
At other times,
It can be helpful to rest in a little more spaciousness and using this time as an opportunity to gently put our practice into practice.
Perhaps grounding attention in an anchor point,
Simply noticing when the mind has wandered and kindly beginning again,
As many times as is needed.
Often,
A balance of light guidance and silence can be especially supportive,
Giving enough structure to steady the attention,
Alongside enough space to explore our experience directly and for ourselves.
Just taking a moment now to find a posture that's going to feel comfortable for you for the next 15 minutes or so.
Maybe moving the attention to the feet.
Maybe just tuning in to any gentle sense of gravity.
Just gently coming home to the body.
Maybe just scanning the body now for somewhere that's going to feel like a good place to rest your attention.
And as you identify this place,
Tuning in to the details,
So maybe the sensations or the feelings of movement.
Simply noticing when the mind wanders.
Always congratulating yourself and noticing that the mind's wandered.
And then gently returning your attention to your anchor point.
And knowing that however many times you need to begin again,
That's absolutely fine.
Just resting in a period of silence now.
And I'll introduce some spotlights for your attention along the way.
Sensations in the fingers.
The muscles around the eyes.
The weight of the hands.
The stillness between the in-breath and the out-breath.
The feeling of the tongue in the mouth.
Being alive.
Just gently now noticing where the mind is.
And just inviting you to rest in the truth of your experience as it unfolds moment by moment.
Inviting you now to take a couple of deep breaths if that feels helpful to you.
Starting to bring a little bit of movement back into the body.
Maybe a stretch.
And as we bring this practice to a close,
Just inviting you to bring a spaciousness,
An openness to your experience into the next moments of your day.
