As the year came to a close, I had a few weeks off to reflect on my life, rest and write in the quiet, as winter settled in and the year came to a close. Here is a new poem of written during that time to share with you.

Hello dear friends.

Over the year end I had a few weeks off and a lot of time to reflect.

I wrote this poem called Before Closing the Door.

It's about aging but also the winter settling in and the year coming to an end.

This aging edging its way up.

This slow creeping of time winding its way unobstructed.

These shifting scales seesawing into motion in this dance we call life.

Closing my eyes,

Sinking into this cavernous place.

Skin,

Bones,

Body and breath inhabiting my soul.

This motion into being something yet nothing at all.

Everything growing with invisible roots.

Here containing thoughts,

Hopes and dreams.

An archive of memories keeping us warm.

Holding these cold nights alone while winter covers the mystery like snow.

Before closing the door.
