But what if I told you that the reason you struggle with pleasure isn't because something is wrong with you,
But because you're swimming against the current.
Imagine standing in the ocean,
Waist deep,
Waves pushing and pulling around you.
If you fight the wave,
Push against them,
Brace your body,
You get exhausted and overwhelmed,
Even frustrated.
But if you let go,
If you learn how to move with the water instead of against it,
Suddenly changes.
Your body relaxes and the waves actually support you and you find yourself floating effortlessly.
Pleasure,
Desire,
Even intimacy,
These things work the same exact way.
The harder we try to force them,
The more they slip through our fingers.
But when we learn to move with our bodies instead of against them,
Pleasure starts to flow naturally.
In this episode,
We're going to talk about how ocean currents can teach you to stop forcing pleasure,
Stop fighting yourself,
And instead tap into the deep natural rhythms of your body that are already carrying you exactly where you need to go.
The ocean is never still.
Beneath the surface,
Powerful currents move in massive,
Swirling loops,
Carrying warm water across entire continents and shifting tides,
Feeding ecosystems.
These currents,
Like the Gulf Stream,
The deep sea conveyor belt,
The tides themselves,
Aren't random.
They follow patterns,
Ancient rhythms that shape the world in ways we don't always see.
But in a strong current,
Your instinct might be to fight,
To thrash,
To push,
To resist.
But ask any experienced swimmer,
And they'll tell you,
That's the worst thing you can do.
Because the more you fight,
The more exhausted you become.
The way to survive,
Better yet,
The way you move with ease,
Is to surrender to the current.
To stop forcing and stop resisting,
And instead let the water guide you.
Rhythms that guide everything from your emotions,
To your nervous system,
To your sexuality.
And when you fight against them,
When you try to force something into feeling desire,
Into pleasure,
Into intimacy,
You're exhausting yourself.
The key is to stop pushing against the current and learn how to ride the natural waves of your body.
So let's talk about what happens when you try to force pleasure.
Maybe you tell yourself,
I should want sex more or why can't I feel turned on like I used to?
Or maybe during intimacy,
You're in your head or trying to make your body feel something,
But it just doesn't respond.
So what's happening here?
You're fighting your organic current.
You're activating the wrong part of your nervous system,
The part wired for stress,
Control,
Overthinking.
But pleasure doesn't live there.
Pleasure lives with you.
And your ease.
It lives when you are moving in tandem with your natural currents.
Think about it like this.
Your body is a coastline and pleasure is the tide.
You can't force the tide to come in.
It has its own rhythm.
The only way to experience its full power is to stop trying to control it and instead learn how to move with it.
So I'm going to give you a short practice here to try this out.
So,
If you have the space to,
Close your eyes,
Unless you're driving or riding a bike or something,
And take a breath.
Through your nose,
And as you exhale,
Imagine your entire body is softening like water.
Feel your shoulders drop.
Your muscles let go just a little and imagine that your breath is the tide rolling in I'm rolling out and instead of trying to control it,
Just notice it.
Ride the waves of your inhale,
Your exhale without effort.
Take one hand and gently run it across your collarbone,
Your arm,
Your jaw,
With the intention of following what feels good in this very moment.
And if there's tension,
If there's resistance,
Don't fight it,
Just notice it,
And let it be part of the current.
This is how we stop fighting our bodies,
How we stop forcing pleasure,
Just by listening.
Your body is not broken.
It's a living,
Moving ocean,
Full of deep currents that are already carrying you towards pleasure.
The key is to stop swimming against the tide and start flowing with the rhythms that are already within you.
So if you can create a little more space in your day-to-day to move with ease,
To go with your natural currents,
To rest when you're tired,
Your pleasure is waiting for you just on the other side of the ocean.
That current.
