Welcome to practice.
In this meditation,
You will be working on creating a field of spaciousness that will help you to sleep softly.
Begin lying down in your bed.
Get nice and cozy.
Find a comfortable position for your body.
Any little adjustments that you need to make,
Any little fidgets,
Do those now.
A pillow under your head to keep the head slightly lifted.
Let the legs,
The arms completely relax.
Close your eyes if you haven't done so already.
And take a moment to take inventory of the day that you've experienced today.
Like a quick snapshot,
Without dwelling too much in the good or the bad,
But rather a bigger snapshot,
A macro snapshot,
Of the day that you've experienced.
Whether this day has been productive,
Lazy,
Sad,
Ecstatic,
Busy,
Frustrated,
Anything that comes to mind,
However the day has been through the feelings that you have experienced in your own reality.
Just let it be as it is,
Without trying to change your day or manipulate the experience that could have been had,
Should have been had,
And let yourself return to this moment of just simply noticing the day that you have been gifted.
And now that all of that is done,
It is time to sleep.
It is time to allow yourself to move into a state of deep relaxation for the next seven to eight hours.
Take a moment to fill your whole body up with a sense of gratitude.
And the easiest way to do this is to bring someone you love into your mind's eye.
How much gratefulness you have for them,
How much love you have for them.
This could be a human,
Non-human,
Like an animal.
It could be human that is no longer in this dimension.
Whoever brings you the sense of gratitude in your being,
Not just your mind,
But in your being,
Call them in.
Take a moment to create the feeling of gratitude and let yourself just immerse there.
Feel there,
Notice there,
Stay there.
Let your body relax a little more,
Feeling the sensation of your bedsheets,
The pillow under your head,
The duvet cover or a blanket that's above you,
The coziness.
You are safe here.
You are held here.
You are supported here.
And now with that sense of gratitude,
Take a moment to let this being go.
And notice your breath now.
Notice the incoming breath and the outgoing breath.
You'll notice that it's a little more slower as you literally create the conditions for sleep to arise,
Just like yoga,
When we create the conditions for yoga to arise.
It's not something that we do,
It's something that we become.
Same thing with sleep.
It is something that we enter to become a much more rested,
Fulfilled,
Stable and rejuvenated part of ourselves.
All that anxiety that you have,
The darkness that you may feel,
The frustration,
The agitation,
Whatever it is that you feel,
Just notice it.
Watch it.
Be with it.
It is a part of you.
Notice your heart rate slowing down,
Everything slowing down,
Your body getting deeper and deeper into your bed,
Finding more comfort in your bed,
Finding that ease in your bed.
When you notice your mind wandering off to tomorrow,
Gently catch it.
Don't come back to this moment because tomorrow has not happened.
Let yourself be here in this moment of today and what you've experienced today,
What you've learned today about yourself.
And if you had a bad day,
The good news is that you can always try again tomorrow to better yourself.
When we better ourselves,
We start to get to know ourselves in a much more meaningful way.
And when you start to know and feel better,
You start to do and feel better.
If you're noticing yourself drifting off,
Let that happen.
Wherever you need to go,
Let yourself go there.
Get softer and softer like a cloud just floating on top of your bed.
Let the bed hold you.
Let it support you.
All the heaviness,
All the weight that you may be emotionally and mentally carrying today.
Let your bed hold all of that.
Like you're taking off a backpack and placing it to the side.
Same thing with your emotional weight.
Do that just here.
Place it next to your bed and if you really,
Really need it again,
You can take it back in the morning.
Stay soft.
Stay open to where your dreams will take you this evening.
Let your body fully rejuvenate for the next seven to eight hours and allow yourself to fully and wholeheartedly remember that tomorrow is a new day,
A new opportunity to try again.
As you give gratitude for this day and make space for a new day,
I hope that this meditation helps you to flow beautifully into a different dimension from waking state to sleeping state into the threshold just in between as you allow your brain to move into a theta state where the frequency of healing truly takes place.
Sweet dreams and sleep softly.
From my heart to yours,
Namaste.
