If you write,
You're a writer.
No buts.
Butts might sound like,
But I only journal.
I only scribble.
I didn't learn writing in school.
If you write,
You're a writer.
No buts.
This is for you.
Let's begin by taking some slow,
Steady breaths.
You might take those breaths in and out of the nose if that's comfortable for you today.
Close the eyes or soften the gaze.
Sink into the rhythm of your own breath.
Notice how the chest,
Side ribs,
And abdomen expand with each inhale.
Observe with curiosity what softens and naturally lets go with each exhale I will now offer some affirmations.
You have the option to simply listen to these words and let them sink in or Say them to yourself in your mind or out loud.
Whatever you do,
Really try to open your heart.
Maybe with an expansive inhale,
Imagine your heart opening.
To let these words in.
I am a writer.
My words are a gift.
Showing up to the page is what counts.
The act of writing is brave.
And writing makes me braver.
Writing makes me honest.
When I write freely.
I learn what I think,
What I feel.
And what I really want for my life.
This matters.
When I let go of perfectionism.
Writing becomes a joyful practice and devotion.
Human beings are naturally expressive and creative.
And like all other human beings.
I deserve time and space for writing and self-expression.
My words matter.
My stories want to be told.
Take a deep breath here.
If one of those statements of affirmation really stood out to you,
Repeat it to yourself now.
If you can't remember the exact wording,
That doesn't matter.
Edit,
You're a writer,
You can edit it.
Another expansive inhale.
Healing the power of those words flow through your body alongside the breath.
Exhale releasing anything you no longer need I hope you can return to this practice as often as you need in order for these words to take deep root.
And become the new framework in your body and mind when you think about your writing practice.
