Welcome to this meditation where we will acknowledge our past and connect with the present.
I invite you to take a moment to get comfortable.
Either seated or lying down.
Whatever is most comfortable.
Allowing your body to settle.
Support it.
At ease.
If it feels okay,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Let's begin by bringing awareness to your breath.
No need to change it.
Just noticing the inhales and the exhales.
Feeling the natural rhythm of your breathing.
The way your body rises slightly as you breathe in.
And softens as you breathe out.
If your mind feels busy,
That's okay.
Nothing to fix.
Acknowledging it.
And observing your breath.
Now,
I invite you to imagine yourself sitting in the driver's seat of a car.
Your hands resting lightly on the wheel.
Your body supported by the seat beneath you.
Just taking a moment to feel.
Feel the image.
Grounded.
Daddy.
In control but not tense.
In front of you is a long open road.
The road represents this moment.
Your life as it's unfolding right now.
Notice what it feels like to simply be here,
On this stretch of road,
In the present.
Now I invite you to gently bring awareness to the rearview mirror.
Just a soft glance.
No straining.
In that mirror,
You begin to notice reflections of your past.
Moment.
Conversations.
Experiences.
Some may feel neutral.
Some may feel warm.
And some may carry a little weight.
Just notice what appears.
No need to analyze.
No need to hold on.
Observing as if you're watching images pass by.
If something emotional arises.
Simply acknowledge it.
Quiet compassion.
Compassionate noticing.
That happened.
That mattered.
That's part of my story.
Now,
Gently remind yourself.
The mirror is here to inform me.
Not to hold me.
Just as when you're driving,
You don't stare into the rearview mirror.
You check it briefly.
You gather information.
And then you return your gaze to the road ahead.
Let's practice that now.
Take one last gentle glance into the mirror.
Acknowledging anything that feels unfinished or anything you've been holding on to.
And now slowly bring your attention back to the road in front of you.
Dealership.
They open us.
The presence.
The quiet sense of possibility.
I invite you to bring awareness back to your breath.
Inhaling and exhaling This breath.
This breath is happening now.
This moment is where your life is.
Silently repeat to yourself.
I can learn from the past.
Without living in it.
Repeating.
I can honor what has been.
And still be fully here.
And repeating.
I am allowed to move forward.
Now imagine the road ahead of you continuing.
Not perfectly clear.
Not fully known.
There is space here.
Space for new choices.
New experiences.
New ways of being.
You don't need to rush.
You don't need to have everything figured out.
You only need to be here.
Aware.
Present.
Willing to continue.
And if your attention drifts back to the mirror.
Or the past,
It's okay.
Gently notice it.
And return again to the road ahead.
To the present.
This is the practice.
I want you to take a breath in.
And on the exhale letting go.
I invite you to begin to bring awareness back to your body.
Noticing your body.
The surface beneath you.
Your fingers or toes.
Gentle stretches if that feels good.
And when you're ready,
If your eyes are still closed,
Gently opening them.
You bringing yourself back to your surroundings.
And carry this with you.
A simple awareness.
An awareness that lands back when needed.
Are to live for.
