We live in an existence where everything feels fast,
Pressured,
Demanding.
We have screens that call for our attention,
Phones that pull us away from magical moments with our children or loved ones.
We have the weight of the need to succeed and protect,
Causing tension in our shoulders,
Our backs,
Our necks.
It's easy to understand why we are overwhelmed,
But we don't have to be.
You have the power to slow down your life,
To make choices and focus on the things that really matter.
And by slowing this pace,
You will be more productive,
Be happier and healthier.
You can start again,
Right now,
Right here.
Hi,
I'm Amy and I will be guiding you today.
I know that sometimes it can be hard to take time for yourself,
To have a break,
To let go of the world around you and all the things and people that you are responsible for.
But know that you deserve this.
You deserve this time today.
So for the next 10 minutes or so,
There is nothing that you need to do apart from listen to my voice.
Let's lie down in a comfortable position.
On a bed or a sofa,
Or you can relax into a chair.
Make sure that your body is supported.
Really feel the support of the bed or chair or sofa.
Feel how it holds you,
Supports you and grounds you to the earth beneath.
Comfortable?
Great.
Close your eyes.
And now,
Quite simply,
We're going to breathe.
In for six and out for eight.
Ready?
Let's take a breath in,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
And out,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight.
Again.
In,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
And out,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight.
Letting go of any outside thoughts and worries.
Again.
In,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
And out,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight.
Last time.
In for one,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
And out,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight.
Completely relaxing.
Let your breath return to a comfortable,
Regular rhythm.
Imagine for a moment that you are standing on the sand,
Right by the sea's edge,
On a beautiful,
Calm beach.
The air is fresh,
And as you breathe in,
You can almost taste the salt of the waves on your tongue.
There is a rhythm to the tide,
Moving in,
Moving out.
That familiar calm and sound of the water.
As it moves in,
It licks the sand around your toes as they sink just that little bit deeper into the dampness below.
This is a wonderful beach.
The temperature is just right.
The sun is kissing your skin,
Filling your body with vitamin D,
Making you feel like you are glowing,
Like you are connected to something much bigger.
As you stand here,
A person appears at your side.
This is a person who is very special to you.
It's someone who you love very much.
Allow it to be the first person that comes to your mind now.
This person doesn't say anything,
But just very slowly and very calmly reaches over and holds your hand.
In this moment,
By holding your hand,
This person who you love so much is letting you know that you are everything that they will ever need you to be.
That you've done great.
That you,
To them,
Are perfect.
Feeling this connection,
You suddenly realize that what you've been missing in this life has been right here with you all along.
It's in the moments between the madness that you find magic.
It's in the glances between friends in the brushing of skin,
In the catching of smiles,
In the giggles,
In the moments of pure pride.
Hold on to this feeling now.
Breathe deeply and know that you are safe and loved.
Slowly,
Feeling empowered and thankful,
You release the hold of your hand,
Knowing that your mutual love stays with you,
Always.
Wherever you may both go next.
Now,
Take another deep breath and start to bring your awareness back into the room that you are in.
Feel your physical weight being held by the bed or sofa or chair that you're on.
Give your toes a little wiggle and stretch your fingers.
Take one last big breath in and release any sighs or emotions that need to be released.
Before you open your eyes,
With new intentions and realisations about what matters in your life,
Let's end this meditation with what you need to hear today.
You can start again.
Now,
Right now,
Is just the beginning.
