Welcome.
This is Allison with Mindful Pause Center,
And I'm so glad to bring you this micro-practice today.
This is a great antidote to thinking that you've got to do it all.
I call it gratitude roots.
So pause right now to write down one thing you're grateful for.
Just something that you're glad happened.
Gratitude can be as simple as your morning cup of coffee.
Then once you've written this down,
Ask,
How did it come to be,
Or how did you come to receive it?
So for my morning cup of coffee,
Somebody had to roast the beans.
And now,
Again,
Ask,
How did that come to be?
So in my case,
Those beans had to arrive at the roasters somehow.
Maybe it was a collective of coffee farmers in Guatemala.
And then one more time,
How did that come to be?
The first person who ever discovered the coffee bean and thought to grind it and add it to hot water.
If you have time,
You could continue this practice,
Extending farther and farther back to the sun and the rain and the soil that allowed the coffee plant to grow.
But even in this short exercise,
You can get a sense of all the people and places that have supported you without even knowing you,
Without you needing to ask or do anything to earn it.
Just take a moment to appreciate all the ways in which we receive care.
Thank you for your practice.
Did you feel supported by this practice?
Leave a short word or phrase in the comments to let me know.
I'd love to be connected.
Until next time,
Take good care.
