We begin by acknowledging the presence of the one who is always here.
You are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue,
You know it completely.
You hem me in,
Behind and before.
You lay your hand upon me.
I invite you into this space.
I invite you into this body.
I invite you into this mind.
I bring my attention to my head and my face.
I release the tension in the forehead.
I release the clenching of the jaw.
I let my shoulders drop away from my ears.
Lord,
You search me and you know me.
You know when I sit down and when I rise.
I surrender my need to figure it all out.
I surrender my need to be in control.
I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
I now bring my attention to my chest and my heart.
I notice the rhythm of my breath,
Breathing in your grace,
Breathing out anxiety and stress.
Where can I go from your spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens,
You are there.
If I make my bed in the depths,
You are there.
My heart is safe and secure in your hands.
My emotions are safe in your hands.
I bring my attention to my stomach and my hands.
I unclench my fists.
I open my palms toward the heaven.
I release the grip on my finances.
I release the grip on my family.
I release the grip on my future.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
If I settle on the far side of the sea,
Even there your hand will guide me.
Your right hand will hold me fast.
I now bring my attention to my legs and my feet.
I feel the ground beneath me.
I remember that you are the solid rock.
I am not floating in the void,
But I am grounded in your love.
For you are the light and you shine through all darkness.
In every dark area,
As you shine your light,
My eyes are becoming open to what you are doing.
Search me,
God,
And know my heart.
Test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.
I am not hidden from you.
I am not too much for you.
I am not a burden to you.
I am your child.
I am your creation.
I am your beloved.
Today,
I choose to rest in you.
And with one last deep breath,
In through the nose and out through the mouth.
