Find a position that is comfortable for you.
Let your body settle.
Slowly close your eyes if it feels comfortable to do so.
Let's take a slow,
Deep breath in through the nose,
Filling the belly,
And out through the mouth.
We begin with Psalm 16,
Verse 1.
Keep me safe,
My God,
For in you I take refuge.
Notice the posture of that verse.
David isn't pretending to be strong.
He is asking to be kept.
He is admitting he needs a refuge.
Where in your life right now do you need to be kept?
We're going to breathe again,
But this time,
As we breathe in,
I want you to clench your fists and as you breathe out,
Open your hands toward God.
Breathe in and breathe out.
You don't have to carry the weight today.
God is your refuge and strength.
Psalm 16,
Verse 2 says,
I say to the Lord,
You are my Lord.
Apart from you,
I have no good thing.
Let's sit with that.
Apart from you,
I have no good thing.
Not less,
Not fewer blessings.
No good thing.
Your breath,
Your worth,
How God loves you completely,
Wholly.
It flows from him.
Ask yourself honestly,
What have I been treating as my source of worth lately?
Let's breathe again.
Breathing in his goodness and breathing out whatever you are holding on to.
Psalm 16,
Verse 5,
Lord,
You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup.
You make my lot secure.
David had everything as a king he could want,
And yet he looked to God and said,
You are what I get to keep.
You are enough.
Can you say that right now,
Even if it's just a whisper?
You are enough.
You are enough.
What would change today if you truly believed that God is enough,
Not your circumstances,
Not your worries or anxieties or fears,
But God is your secure portion?
We're going to breathe in again.
And as you breathe in,
I want you to meditate on the fact that God is enough.
Let's breathe in again.
You are enough.
Breathe out.
I am secure.
Let your breathing come back to a steady rhythm.
We'll close with Psalm 16,
Verse 8.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
I will not be shaken.
Your identity is not built on what you've done,
But what God has done for you.
Take one last deep breath,
Meditating on the fact that God loves you.
God cares for you.
And he has done everything necessary to provide for every one of your needs.
Breathing slowly in through the nose and out through the mouth.
