Hi,
I'm Dr.
Kim.
I was inspired to share my thoughts around a conversation that happened last night.
I was at dinner with a couple of new friends,
And one of them started telling his story of how he became a digital nomad.
Back when he was living in the States,
Tethered to a depressing office job,
He came across a book,
And this book rocked his world.
When he finished it,
He was so inspired and excited that it was all he could think about.
He wanted to talk about it with someone,
Anyone,
So on a whim,
He created an event in his city for those who had read the book to get together and talk about it.
He organized it,
Did all the planning,
He posted it online,
And then he showed up on the night of the event to find that only one person came.
Just one.
Most of us would feel the sting of failure,
Embarrassment,
Disappointment.
Why did I even bother?
What a waste of time.
But that's not what happened.
They sat down,
Just the two of them,
And talked for hours.
They clicked,
Effortlessly,
Like destiny.
That stranger became his business partner.
Together they founded a startup.
He quit the 9-to-5 job he hated,
And he was able to achieve his dream of becoming a digital nomad whilst making meaningful impact.
His life is the same as mine,
Travel,
Freedom,
Meaning,
All because he followed his excitement.
When he finished telling me this story,
Something went very still inside me.
This is an awesome example of how life actually works.
When you follow your excitement,
You align with the frequency of your desires,
And opportunities and people are then drawn to you that match this frequency.
The events that unfold are perfect.
Imagine if 20 people had shown up to his event.
He may not have had the chance to connect with his future business partner.
One person showing up was not a failure,
It was required.
How many times in our own lives have we felt that spark,
That pull,
That excitement that doesn't come with guarantees?
How many times have we talked ourselves out of following it because it didn't make sense or feel safe enough?
Excitement isn't random,
It's directional.
It is one of the clearest ways life tells you,
Go this way.
Not because it promises comfort,
But because it aligns you with the next step of who you're becoming.
When you act from excitement,
You're not forcing outcomes,
You're positioning yourself.
You're stepping into the current instead of standing on the shore looking at the water.
And sometimes the current doesn't bring a crowd,
It brings one conversation,
One opportunity,
One person,
But that one can reroute your entire life.
And I can feel this truth echoing throughout my own life.
So many moments that looked small at the time,
So many choices that didn't make any sense on paper,
But yet looking back,
They were all doorways.
This is what it means to walk your highest path.
Not chasing outcomes,
But responding to excitement again and again without needing to know where it leads.
So as you sit with this story,
I want to invite you into a gentle reflection.
Where in your life have you followed your excitement and later realized it changed everything?
And where might excitement be whispering to you now,
Asking you to trust it,
Even if the next step feels small,
Unsafe or uncertain?
If you feel cold,
I'd love for you to share in your review any moments in your own life where following excitement led you somewhere unexpected,
Meaningful or deeply aligned.
Your story might be the one someone else needs to hear.
Thank you so much for listening.
