Hello,
My friend,
And welcome.
This meditation is designed to help lift you out of the darkness of depression.
So I invite you to find your way either to a comfortable seat,
Perhaps resting against a wall or in a chair.
Or maybe you'd like to lie down.
Please take your time getting comfortable and try to make it so that you are so comfortable that you hardly notice any want or need from your body.
Perhaps covering up with the safety of a blanket.
Feel free to cocoon yourself.
And wherever you've chosen to be,
I invite you to place your hands on your body somewhere that you can feel your breath.
So maybe your palms rest on your belly or your ribs.
If you're lying down,
Allow your elbows to rest upon whatever is supporting you.
And if that means your hands slide to the sides of your body.
And for the first few moments here,
Simply feel your breath.
There's no need to change your breath.
And as you become a little more in tune with your breath,
Perhaps you can allow it to lengthen just a tiny bit.
Maybe your next inhale takes a moment longer than the previous.
And the next exhale lasts a moment longer than the previous.
Continue to allow your breath to elongate and maybe lengthen out just a little bit longer each time.
If at any time this feels forced,
Go back to a pace of breath that feels comfortable.
Each inhale creating space in your body.
And each exhale softening the edges.
See if you can notice a sense of lift and expansion as you breathe in.
And that softness as you breathe out.
If you'd like envision yourself resting upon a cloud.
Notice the qualities of this cloud.
Soft white color.
Pillowy and airy.
Maybe slightly cool to the touch.
This cloud effortlessly floating in the sky.
And as you rest upon this cloud,
Feeling the warmth of the sunlight above you.
Maybe there's a soft breeze that kisses your skin as you gently float.
Feeling the crystal blue color of the sky and the different shades of blue as your vision travels further away from the sunlight.
Feeling completely weightless in your body and completely effortless as you float.
The breath continues to create space inside the body and allows you to soften further and further upon this cloud.
The gentle breeze carries you through the air.
Opening you up with a healing airiness.
And as you breathe,
You can let go of more and more tension,
Which allows you to float higher and higher.
Feeling open,
Full of life.
Slowly at ease.
Slowly this cloud will gently return you to this room and whatever is supporting you in this moment.
The cloud gently releases you.
And as it lifts,
It draws away any darkness,
Any tension and heaviness from you,
Lifting it up and out of your body.
Freeing your body completely at ease.
I invite you to hold on to this sense of weightlessness and airiness throughout your day.
And perhaps you can embrace the sensation of floating as you make your way through the rest of your day.
Be well,
My friend.
