Hello my sweet listener.
Welcome to Storytime with Nana Jojo.
I'm so happy you're here.
I'm Nana Jojo,
And I have another wonderful story to share with you today.
But first,
Let's get cozy.
Grab your favorite stuffie.
Make sure you've got a soft blanket and snuggle in.
Now let's take some slow,
Deep breaths together.
When we breathe slowly,
Our bodies feel calm and relaxed.
So take a big breath in through your nose.
And breathe out with a happy sigh like this.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Let's do that again.
Big breath in.
And breathe out.
Hmmmm.
.
.
One more time.
Big breath in.
And breathe out.
Hmmmmmmmmmm Super duper job.
Do you feel nice and relaxed?
Yay,
I do too!
Okay,
My sweet little one,
It's time for our story.
This is another story about Luna the Little Star.
The kind and caring star who loves to help children from way up in the night sky.
Are you ready?
Okay,
Let's begin.
Once upon a time,
High up in the night sky,
There lived a little star named Luna.
Every night,
Luna shined her soft,
Gentle light through bedroom windows,
Helping children feel safe as they fell asleep.
Luna loved her job.
One evening,
Luna was happily twinkling when she noticed something new.
Not far away,
Tucked behind a big fluffy cloud,
Was a tiny little star.
The star was very,
Very small.
And very,
Very still.
Hello,
Luna called out in her warm,
Friendly voice.
I'm Luna.
What's your name?
The tiny star didn't answer,
Though.
She just peeked out from behind the cloud.
Then she ducked back in.
Luna smiled softly.
She had seen this happen before.
Luna floated a little closer,
But not too close.
It's okay,
Luna said gently to the tiny star.
You don't have to come out if you're not ready.
I'll be right here when you are.
One moment passed.
Then two.
And then slowly.
A tiny little light peeked out from behind the cloud again.
My name is Pip.
Set a soft,
Quiet voice.
Hello,
Pip.
Luna said.
That's a beautiful name.
Pip gave a tiny flicker.
I'm supposed to start shining tonight.
Pip said.
It's my very first night.
But I don't want to.
Or said Luna.
Can you tell me more about that?
Pip was quiet for a moment.
All the other stars will be watching me.
And all the children down below will see me.
And what if I do it wrong?
What if my light isn't bright enough?
What if they don't like me?
Luna nodded.
That sounds like a shy feeling,
Luna said.
Is that bad?
Pipask?
No,
Not at all,
Luna said.
Shy feelings aren't bad.
They're your heart's way of saying,
I'm not sure yet.
I need a little time.
Pip blink.
Really?
Really?
" said Luna.
Your feelings are trying to take care of you.
They're telling you to go slow.
And going slow is perfectly okay.
Pip thought about what Luna had said.
But all the other stars just shine,
Pip said.
They don't seem like they're scared at all.
Luna looked out at the sky.
The other stars twinkled and glowed.
They were big and bright.
Do you know what?
Luna said.
Every single star up here had a first night just like you.
And almost every one of them felt a little wobbly inside.
Even you?
PIP ASS Luna laughed her soft,
Warm laugh.
It was like a gentle hug.
Yes,
Even me.
On my very first night,
I hid behind a cloud just like you.
And I stayed there for a long time.
Pip peeked out a little more.
What happened?
Well.
.
.
I just waited,
Said Luna.
And I paid attention to my feelings.
And after a while,
I noticed something.
My shy feeling got a little smaller.
And a little smaller.
And a little smaller.
And finally,
I was ready.
Not because someone told me to be ready,
Though.
But because I was ready all on my own.
Pip was very quiet.
Down below.
The world was getting darker and children were going to bed.
Pip watched as Luna began to glow a little brighter.
What are you doing?
Pip asked.
I'm shining for the children,
Luna said.
When they look up and see my light,
They know they're safe because they know someone is watching over them.
Pip looked down at the small dark houses below.
In one house,
A little girl named Emma was looking up at the sky.
Emma seemed to be looking right at where Pip was hiding.
Pep felt something small and warm flicker inside.
It wasn't a big feeling.
Just a tiny one.
But it was there.
Pip said softly.
I think I think I might want to try.
Just a little.
Just a little shine.
Is that okay?
Of course it is,
Luna said.
Any shine is a good shine.
You don't have to be the biggest or the brightest.
Just be yourself.
Very slowly,
Pip moved out from behind the cloud.
Just the tiniest bit.
And a small,
Soft,
Gentle light began to glow.
It wasn't bright like the big stars.
But it was real.
And it was Pip's.
Down below,
" Emma pointed up.
Mama,
I see a new star,
" Emma called out.
Pip felt that warm flicker again.
A little bigger this time.
How does that feel?
Luna asked.
Kind of nice,
Pip said,
But also still a little wobbly.
Luna laughed her warm laugh again.
That's okay.
Both things can be true at the same time.
You can feel shy and still try something.
And you can feel nervous and still be brave.
Your feelings are not telling you to stop.
They're just asking you to go slow and gentle.
Pip nodded.
Go slow and gentle.
Yes,
" said Luna.
And do you know what?
Some stars are big and bright,
And they shine right away.
And some stars are quiet and soft.
And they take a little more time.
And guess what?
Both kinds are needed.
The children who are shy themselves,
They especially love a soft,
Quiet light because it feels just like them.
Pip thought about that.
And then… very gently.
Pip glowed a little brighter.
Not a lot.
Just a little.
Just enough.
And down below,
Emma smiled.
And then she snuggled under her blanket.
Closed her eyes,
And she fell asleep.
For the rest of that night.
Pip stayed right there in the sky.
Sometimes she was tucked behind the cloud for a little rest,
And sometimes she glowed soft and small and steady.
And Luna stayed close all night,
Just being there for Pip.
At the end of the night,
As the sky began to turn soft pink and orange with the morning light,
Pip said,
Thank you.
For what?
Luna asks,
For letting me feel what I felt.
And not telling me I had to shine.
And for telling me it was okay to be shy and to take my time.
Luna smiled her gentle star smile.
That's what friends are for,
Pip.
I'm so glad you're here in our sky.
Pip gave one last little twinkle before the sun came up.
And it was the most beautiful twinkle of all.
The End.
And so,
My dear little listener,
What did we learn from our story today?
We learned about feeling shy.
And that feeling shy is not a bad thing.
When we feel shy,
Our heart is simply telling us.
I need a little more time.
I want to feel comfortable first.
And that's a very smart and kind thing for us to do for ourselves.
It's okay to take your time.
It's okay to watch before you join in.
It's okay to go slow and gentle,
Just like Pip.
As our storytime comes to an end.
Remember that if you feel shy,
You can take a slow,
Deep breath and listen to what your heart is telling you.
It's taking good care of you.
Most of all,
Remember that you are loved.
You are special and Nana Jojo loves you so very much.
I'll be right here for you when you're ready for another story.
And if it's time for you to sleep now,
I'm wishing you happy and sweet dreams.
Sleep tight,
My little love.
I'll see you again soon.
Good night
