Good evening and welcome to this guided sleep meditation and story.
My name is Wendy and for tonight you can think of me as a trusted friend and let me help guide you into a deep and restful slumber.
Tonight's story is A Night at the Sweet Dream Spa A story about a quaint and quiet little spa with one special difference.
It offers a magical tea that puts late night guests into a soft and restful slumber.
So close your eyes,
Get comfortable and let's begin with a short wind down breathing exercise to get your body ready for a deep,
Comfortable sleep.
We're going to take a deep breath in for four,
Hold it for four and breathe out for six.
We'll do this three times.
Let's begin.
Inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhale two,
Three,
Four.
Hold two,
Three,
Four.
Exhale two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six.
Inhale 2,
3,
4,
Hold 2,
3,
4,
Exhale 2,
3,
4,
5,
6.
Good.
Just resume regular breathing now and let's get ready to go to the spa.
The Sweet Dream Spa is a tiny little building,
Almost like a little cottage,
And painted a soft green with windows trimmed in purple.
Along the sides and edges,
Little blue and pink flowers peek out among the green shrubs.
Hanging from pots around the screened and front porch are velvety ferns,
Their curling tendrils swaying in the soft evening breeze like they are a finger crooked and inviting you in.
You walk up the sidewalk of aged cobblestones,
Weathered and old,
And up to the steps,
Already feeling a sense of peace wash over you.
There are five steps leading up to the old fashioned screen door.
You know as you climb those steps that by the time you reach five and into the spa,
You will be calm and ready for the magic sleep treatment that you have heard so much about.
You step up onto the first step.
One,
It's a soft green color to match the rest of the cottage,
The paint delicately worn from seeing many rainstorms and many more feet.
You cross up to the second step.
Two,
And get closer to the beautiful screened and porch that looks so peaceful and restful as the evening sun sets in the distance,
Coloring the sky with pinks and oranges and purples in the only way a beautifully setting sun can.
The third step,
Three,
Has you eye to eye with the beautiful vine of white moonflowers curling their tendrils along the banister,
Open and ready for the evening light and cooler temperatures.
And just like their namesake,
They are perfectly round and white like a full moon.
In fact,
You wonder what they would look like under the moonlight or if anyone has seen these particular flowers under the glowing beams of a full moon.
You climb to the fourth step,
Four,
And take a deep breath,
Breathing in the evening air as off in the distance frogs and cicadas begin their evening song,
Almost as if nature herself has picked this moment just for you to sing you a sweet lullaby.
Your fifth step,
Five,
Leads you to the screened door and a wave of peace and calm wash over you as you enter the screened and porch.
You feel so at ease and comfortable that you wonder if there isn't some sort of magic there upon the steps.
After all,
This is a magical spa,
So anything is possible.
On the porch are hammocks of all colors and sizes,
Hanging from the rafters and gently swaying,
Inviting any guests to rest and relax.
There are large hammocks and small hammocks,
Woven ones and even little egg-shaped ones that look like dream pods lined with plush pillows.
Above you a ceiling fan slowly spins,
Keeping the air ambient and moving with the soft whir of its motion.
The sides of the porch show off vividly colored pots of flowers and deep green herbs.
The owners keep an array of fresh and dried herbs on hand to blend into magical sleepy-time tinctures and teas for the guests.
Their special concoction,
It is whispered,
Grants sweet dreams to anyone who tastes of it.
You lean down and take a deep breath of the fragrant plants,
Breathing in the sweet scents of chamomile,
Lavender and lemon balm,
Reminding you of bedtime rituals and cozy nights with a cup of herbal tea.
You walk up to the front door entrance,
Painted a soft but intriguing purple,
And place your hand on the antique brass knob.
As you open the door,
A little brass bell chimes sweetly above you and you immediately smell the comforting blend of aromatic oils and herbs that have permeated the wooden walls and beams of the spa.
Soft music plays in the background,
A low blend of soothing notes that automatically puts you into a restful state.
The owner greets you and leads you to a plump,
Overstuffed,
Purple couch.
It's the kind of couch that begs someone to curl up,
Get cozy,
Put their feet up and rest,
Which is exactly what you do.
You are brought a cup of the magical hot tea,
The fragrant aroma wafting into your nose and filling your senses with thoughts of sweet dreams.
And you wonder just what herbs go into this.
Maybe the chamomile you saw outside,
And you detect a hint of spice as well and breathe in curiously,
Thinking how it reminds you of your favorite scent and warm,
Happy memories.
The mug,
Pleasantly hot in your hands,
Has a warmth that spreads.
It starts in your fingers as you wrap your hands around the mug and take a sip,
Soothing,
Warming and relaxing every nerve.
As you take another sip,
The warmth and relaxation spreads through your hands and the owner smiles knowingly.
This tea isn't a regular tea.
It's a magical tea that every guest who books a sleepy time treatment gets.
And by the time you are done drinking in its delicate favors,
You are guaranteed to be ready to rest and sleep.
The magical warmth spreads from your hands to your wrists and your arms and every nerve,
Every cell there is relaxed,
Loose and heavy.
As you sip the tea,
It travels down into your stomach and all the tension from the day is released.
Your stomach relaxes.
All of the muscles in your stomach relax and are heavy.
The warmth spreads to your back,
Your spine and all of the muscles there making them soft,
Relaxed and heavy.
It travels down into your legs,
All of the muscles in your legs becoming soft,
Relaxed and heavy.
Down into your feet,
Your feet becoming soft,
Relaxed and heavy.
You know the magic sleepy time tea is working now,
So you cuddle up with a soft,
Fuzzy blanket and perfect pillow provided just for you.
You set the tea down on a wooden side table and close your eyes,
The last bit of magic traveling to your face.
The muscles in your face,
Your jaw,
Your eyes,
The spot between your eyes,
Your scalp all becoming soft,
Relaxed and heavy.
Your whole body relaxed as you drift off into sweet dreams.
Good night.
