Hello,

And welcome to this good night meditation.

My name is Wendy.

I'm here to help you drift off into sleep with a hypnotherapy technique.

You're going to have a story within a story as you allow yourself to unwind and relax.

This meditation should only be listened to in a safe place where you can rest.

So I invite you to get into a comfortable position.

Take a moment to just relax.

Allow your eyes to close.

In a moment,

We are going to take three deep breaths.

After each inhale,

You can sink deeper and deeper into a place of rest and relaxation.

All right,

Ready?

And inhale.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five,

Filling up your lungs.

Exhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Let all the air out.

And inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Exhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Last time.

Inhale,

Two,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Exhale,

Three,

Four,

Five.

Good.

You can relax your breathing into a regular rhythm now.

We are going to take a little mental vacation.

And when you are ready,

You may allow yourself to drift off at any point into sleep.

Let my voice and the story be the background noise to your restful slumber.

I want you to imagine yourself in a library.

The air is cool,

But underneath is the light scent of old books and another smell that you can't quite place but comforts you all the same.

You look around.

There are only a handful of other people in the library with you,

And there is a soft,

Almost reverent hush all around.

A beautiful journal lays open in front of you and a new pen beside it.

You are in no rush or hurry to fill the pages.

You have all the time in the world.

You pick up the pen and feel the weight of it in your fingers as you place it on the paper and begin to doodle.

The gentle scratch of the writing on the crisp paper beneath you makes a soft but comforting sound.

As you write on your paper,

You feel your mind beginning to drift,

Letting yourself dream your way into one of your favorite stories.

You are so calm and comfortable as you write daydream.

The library begins to fade away as you drift into your inner mind and let yourself be caught and carried along in your own story and your own journey.

In your mind,

You are walking along the beach,

Barefoot in the sand,

Feeling each step and how lovely it feels beneath you.

As you walk along,

You feel the breeze caress your skin and you can smell and even taste the salty ocean air.

The sun is warm with an almost lazy feel to it and your body soaks up the light,

Giving you a feeling of pure comfort.

As you look off into the distance,

You notice appear an old man in his fishing cap sitting off the side,

A pole in his hand enjoying the simplicity of a day by the ocean,

Just fishing the day away.

In the background are the sounds of seagulls gently calling to one another as they swoop in and out among the air streams,

Diving into the water and back out again.

Waves are gently lapping on the shoreline and you pause to appreciate the beauty that surrounds you.

As you walk closer to the shoreline,

The seagulls and the waves become louder,

Each footstep bringing you closer to the water's edge.

Then you notice that in the sand are more and more seashells of varying shapes and colors.

Sand dollars of an ivory white,

Clam shells of mottled brown,

And little rainbow colored snail shells that catch the sun and sparkle with what seems like a thousand different colors.

You pause and admire how the waves catch the light and how like the shells,

It almost seems to change colors as the waves roll gently into the shore and then back out again.

How comforting it is to watch that repeat,

Rolling into the shore and back out.

Out in the distance you can see a boat gently rocking back and forth to the rhythm the waves are making.

A young couple basking in the sun,

Just enjoying the day on the ocean.

You continue your path along the shoreline as the sun begins to set.

Burning the sky,

Brilliant shades of orange and pink and red.

In the distance you see your little white cottage for the night waiting for you,

All ready to greet you when you come in for the evening.

As you walk,

You see others finishing up their day.

A family wrapping up their food and drink back into a checkerboard blanket with a brown wicker picnic basket beside them.

A sailboat with a white sail drifts back towards land and you can feel the breeze gently brush your face and hair and know it's time to head back to the cottage for the night.

As the cottage gets closer to you,

You can make out the details of the quaint little home that you have for the night.

A white wraparound porch with two rocking chairs,

A picket fence with a garden gate,

And pots full of flowers and herbs and every shape and color.

And they all work together to give it the charm of a perfect fairy tale cottage.

As you approach the garden gate,

You can smell the beautiful scents of all the flowers and herbs that surround you lovingly planted and kept beautiful by the groundskeeper.

You take a deep breath and inhale the smells of mint,

Lavender,

Roses,

And something else you can't quite place but smells lovely.

You slowly swing the gate open and it makes a soft sound as it rolls on its hinges.

Below you,

The shoreline falls away to a cobblestone path amidst the flowers that lead up to the porch.

Worn down from the years of traffic and weather,

The rocks are smooth and you can feel have a sense of history.

As you take your steps to the porch,

You feel a sense of calm,

Sereneness envelope you.

And with each step,

You are more and more ready to lie down in the cool,

Comfortable bedroom that awaits you.

You reach out your hand and gently caress the tall herbs that are growing like a French pot at your garden as you go up to the porch,

Soft and fragrant,

Gently waving in the breeze they invite you in.

Taking the first steps onto the porch,

You feel heavier and tired.

And with each step,

You sink deeper and deeper into a sense of calm and peace and ready to retire for the day into sleep.

You count the steps as you go up,

Relaxed and ready to make your way into the cottage as you breathe deeply with a sense of comfort,

Knowing that today you have been fulfilled and nurtured.

One,

You step onto the first step of the porch,

Enjoying the last rays of sunshine flitting across,

Turning it at the deepest shade of pink that you have ever seen and reminding you of peaceful sunsets in the past.

Two,

As you climb the steps closer into the cottage,

You inhale,

Breathing in the cool,

Perfect air,

Lightly scented with the smells of the ocean and the flowers and the garden.

And the new exhale,

Breathing out any worries.

Three,

You can see the warmth of the light inside the cottage,

Inviting you in and ready to envelope you for the night and cocoon you in warmth and comfort,

Safe and relaxed.

Four,

Your feet heavier now and ready to make your way into the cottage as the last of the sun rays dip below the water.

Five,

With a deep breath,

You are at the cottage door,

Ready to slip into the bedroom and sleep.

You softly turn the antique brass knob of the door and enter into the sea cottage.

Inside,

It is gently lit with the soft glow of salt lamps.

It is the perfect little cottage by the sea and the air is cooled to the right temperature for sleeping.

You can faintly hear the sound of the cooling system in the background,

Comforting,

Steady sound.

The curtains are pulled closed,

Soft,

Billowy white,

With just the barest movements from a fan.

You head into the bedroom and find the bed already turned down and waiting for you.

The soft,

Fluffy comforter pulled at the corner to reveal the crisp white sheets underneath.

There are pillows everywhere at the head of the bed,

One of every kind,

So you can pick your perfect comfort level.

Large ones,

Small ones,

Rectangle ones,

Round ones,

From the softest goose down feather to the firmest foam.

Hanging on the door is a soft,

White cotton robe just for you.

As you put it on,

You take off all the cares and worries of the day and you slip into your robe and you feel clean and cool and comfortable and ready to sleep for the night.

You climb into the bed and listen to the soft noises of the house,

The whir of the air conditioner,

The gentle hum of the fan,

And outside the lapping of the waves at the shoreline.

And as you drift off,

You remember a little pool of water you saw at the beach,

Filled with the tiniest of sea life that could come and go with the gentle lapping of the same waves you hear now,

In,

Out.

As you imagine the waves,

You take several deep breaths,

Inhaling and exhaling.

One,

Inhaling and exhaling.

Two,

Inhaling and exhaling.

Three,

It is time to drift to sleep now.

Good night.

Good night.

Thoughtful journey. My monkey mind was sidetracked by envelope/envelop and I lost my way twice. Still, a lovely seashore meditation.
