Hello,
Thank you for joining me today for this guided meditation on grounding with the earth.
Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down.
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in,
And then exhale slowly through the mouth.
Let go of anything that came before this moment.
This is your time to simply be.
Let's take in another breath in through the nose,
Feeling the cold air filling our lungs,
And then exhale,
Releasing tension.
Feel your body begin to settle into stillness.
Now bring your attention to the points of contact between your body and the surface beneath you.
Notice how the earth supports you effortlessly.
You don't have to hold yourself up,
You are being held.
With each inhale,
Allow yourself to feel a little lighter,
And with each exhale,
Sink a little deeper into that relaxation.
There's nothing to do here,
Nowhere to be.
Just be in this moment.
Now bring your awareness to your body.
Start at the top of your head,
And feel this air as it touches your scalp.
And as we move down through the body,
Relax any areas of tension as we go.
So moving to the forehead,
The eyes,
The temple,
The space between your ears,
Your cheeks,
Your jaw.
If it makes it easy,
Rest your top tip of your tongue at the top of your mouth,
And part your lips just a bit.
That helps relax your jaw.
Move your focus to your shoulders,
Letting them soften and drop with each inhale and exhale.
Your throat,
Your upper chest,
Your upper back.
Feel your arms heavy and at rest,
Your hands open and relaxed,
Your belly softening,
Your spine lengthening,
Your hips,
Your thighs,
Your knees,
Your shins,
And your calf muscles.
Feel the heels of your feet as they touch the ground,
Top of your feet,
The bottom of your feet,
Your toes.
Feel the grounding of your legs into Mother Earth.
Feel your connection to the earth.
Imagine your feet gently sinking into the ground,
Becoming part of the natural world.
Now begin to awaken your senses to the world around you that can be either real or imagined.
Imagine you are standing in a lush forest,
A quiet meadow,
Or on the soft sands of a beach.
The air is fresh and alive.
Feel the temperature of the air on your skin.
Is it warm,
Cool,
Or is it just right?
Notice how it gently moves around you.
Listen,
What sounds do you hear?
Are there birds singing,
Leaves rustling,
The distant trickle of water?
Let the sounds wash over you,
Bringing you deeper into stillness.
Now breathe in deeply.
What do you smell?
Is it the earth after a soft rain,
The sweetness of a flower,
The crisp freshness of pine or ocean breeze?
Savor each one of those inhales.
Now reach out and imagine running your fingers over the textures of nature.
Rough bark,
Soft petals,
Cool water,
Smooth stones.
Let yourself explore the feeling of being fully present in this natural space.
Now shift your focus to the earth beneath you.
Imagine that from the base of your spine,
Roots begin to grow downward,
Spreading deep into the ground.
With each breath,
These roots travel deeper,
Anchoring you and connecting you to the steady,
Unwavering presence of the earth,
Mother Gaia.
Feel the support of the ground beneath you.
It's been here for thousands of years.
It carries the wisdom of time,
The strength of mountains,
The fluidity of rivers,
And you.
You are a part of it.
Now imagine energy rising through these roots,
A steady,
Warm,
Grounding energy.
It flows upwards,
Filling your legs,
Your torso,
Your heart.
This energy is steady,
Calm,
And unwavering.
Feel yourself deeply rooted,
Unshaken,
And present.
You are supported always.
Now gently expand your awareness beyond yourself.
Imagine the vastness of the natural world,
The towering trees,
The rolling hills,
The flowing waters,
The endless sky.
Feel a deep sense of connection with all living things.
Just as the trees breathe in and out,
So do you.
Just as the rivers flow,
So do your thoughts.
You are a part of this great,
Interconnected web of life.
Take a moment to offer gratitude to the earth for holding you,
To the trees for holding you,
To the trees for their quiet wisdom,
To the wind for its lessons on movement and change.
You belong to this world.
You are not separate from it.
You are one with it.
Slowly begin to bring awareness back to your body,
To the feeling where you are sitting or lying down.
Wiggle your fingers and toes gently,
Bringing movement back.
Let's take a deep breath in through the nose and exhale slowly through the mouth.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes,
Carrying this sense of grounding and connection with you for the rest of your day.
Nature is always here,
Waiting for you to return to its stillness.
