Hello my name is Viola, I wrote this poem with children in mind. I wanted them to realize their self-worth, just like the spider in the poem. But then my heart nudged me with, this message is for everyone. We all need a reminder that we are all valuable and have a special place on this beautiful earth. But then I was nudged at my heart's base that,

Yes,

You are a spider,

At times a creepy crawler.

It's hard to ignore you.

You keep laying eggs,

Casting a shadow on the wall or floor.

And who else has eight hairy legs?

I heard that you've been hiding,

Feeling sad and blue,

With names like ugly and scary being aimed right at you.

Who can blame you for not understanding your self-worth,

Even after having existed for over a hundred million years on planet Earth?

You,

Dear heart,

Are a recycler,

Contributor,

And a master designer,

Spinning silk into a beautiful web.

You produce venom,

Which aids in the creation of so many needed drugs.

Dear spider,

What a blessing to our ego system.

I hope now you can see your light.

Take a rest,

Sit in the day,

And move freely through the night.

Viola, this little poem reminds me of an orb Weaver spider that made a web on my deck swing last fall. I would swing and talk to her. She became my little friend and I named her Charlotte. ( how creative, right?) 😉. it is beautiful the way you create from the life of a little creature.
