Welcome to this short reset for the middle of a grief day.
If grief has been building and feels overwhelming to carry,
Let's take a few minutes to reconnect with the steadiness within you.
While still honoring everything that is here.
Make yourself comfortable sitting or lying down.
If you feel safe,
You can close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Let's take a breath together.
Inhale through the nose.
And exhale through the mouth with a sigh.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Place one hand on your belly.
Breathe in deeply through your nose,
Allowing the breath to fill your belly.
Rise through your ribs.
And gently reach your chest.
On your exhale,
Feel the chest soften,
The ribs soften.
And the belly release.
Begin to notice.
The warmth of the breath entering your body on the inhale.
The feeling of the air leaving your body on the exhale.
Keep breathing at a pace that feels natural to you.
Now notice your shoulders.
Can you soften them even just a little?
Bring awareness to the parts of the body that feel tense.
The places that may be holding,
Gripping,
Or bracing.
Can you soften your jaw from any clenching?
Can you relax your feet and toes?
Keep inhaling.
And exhaling.
Imagine the air you breathe making its way to your heart space.
Offering a little nurture.
Now,
Place a hand on your heart if that feels supportive.
And offer yourself these words of kindness.
May I be gentle with myself today.
May I take this moment slowly.
May I allow myself to be human.
May I honor what my heart is carrying.
Take one more deep breath in through the nose.
And exhale out the mouth with a sigh.
When you feel ready,
Gently open your eyes or lift your gaze.
May the rest of your day be gentle and kind.
Know that you can come back to this practice whenever you need to.
