Hello and welcome to this New Year's meditation.
I invite you to find a comfortable place where you will be able to lie down without being disturbed.
Slowly close your eyes if this feels comfortable right now and reconnect with your body lying here and breathing.
Feeling the air moving in and out of your body naturally flowing without you having to do anything special in the present moment.
Feeling each inhale and each exhale for what they are without trying to change anything.
Just becoming present,
Becoming aware of whatever emerges.
With each inhale and each exhale,
Feeling your body sink a bit more as if it was weighing a bit more each time.
Let's now imagine a lake.
It could be a lake you've visited recently while you were on holidays or an imaginary lake that you have seen on television or in the magazine.
Try to imagine this lake with all its details.
How big is this lake?
What is the color of the water?
Is your lake surrounded by trees?
Is there any smell floating in the air?
Any sound in the environment?
Birds chirping?
Just creating a very vivid image of this lake in front of you.
Taking a few deep breaths,
Inspiring through the nose and slowly releasing the air through the mouth when expiring as if you were blowing on the bubble.
Once more inspiring through the nose and gently expiring through the mouth.
And admiring the beauty of this lake in front of you.
Its natural beauty.
Slowly going closer to it,
To admire it even better.
You are approaching the edge of the lake and in your pocket you have a little twig,
A tiny little twig.
You gently take it out of your pocket and you throw it into this lake.
Asking yourself a question.
With this new year coming up,
What is really important for me?
What is really my priority for the coming year?
In what do I wish to invest my energy?
Do I wish to spend more time with my family or with my friends?
Do I intend to take up a new activity?
Do I wish to spend more time on a hobby?
What really matters to me for the coming year?
And seeing this twig on the surface of your lake,
Slowly moving down,
Sinking a bit more.
And as it goes a bit deeper into your inner lake,
What is really really important for me to achieve for the upcoming year?
What is really really my priority?
And seeing what emerges right now.
Maybe the second answer is a bit different from the first one and that's perfectly fine.
Just noticing that.
Seeing how your little twig is sinking a bit deeper still into the lake.
What is really really really important for me for the year to come?
What is really really really my priority?
What is it that really really really matters to me?
And once again contemplating the answer that comes up and welcoming whatever emergence.
This little twig has now reached the very bottom of your inner lake.
Around it everything is quiet,
Everything is peaceful.
Whatever happens on the surface doesn't matter.
Deep down everything is fine,
Everything is perfectly okay.
And taking a few conscious breaths now.
Inspiring through the nose and gently expiring through the mouth as if you were breathing through a straw.
Doing that once more,
Inspiring through the nose and gently releasing all the air as if you were blowing through a straw.
And slowly coming back now to your whole body breathing here.
Feeling the points of contact between your body and the mattress or the mat on which you are lying.
Gently opening your eyes if you had closed them and getting used to the surroundings,
The colors,
The shapes,
The sounds.
Stretching if that is what your body feels like doing right now.
And slowly getting ready to resume your daily activities.
I hope you will have enjoyed this short New Year's practice.
I wish you the very very best for the year to come.
I hope this meditation will have helped you see quite clearly what is really really really important for you.
What your real priority is for the year to come.
Have a beautiful day and a very happy and healthy year ahead.
