This practice establishes a seated, breathing meditation which is supported by an analysis of fire, the flame, and the thermal radiation emitting from the body. It equates the flames emitting from the body to the animation of life force. Focusing on the flame of a lit candle is suggested.

Transcript

Today we meditate on the fire.

You can practice lying down.

You can practice seated.

You can choose to light a candle or a fire.

Choose something that allows you to find stillness.

And begin to focus on the breath.

Inhale through your nose.

And exhale through your nose.

The meditation upon a flame is an old one.

The eyes focus on the light for an extended amount of time.

See the light behind your eyes.

And feel the heat of your body.

All bodies producing heat.

Emit thermal radiation.

Waves emanating from the body.

Smooth the consistency of your airflow.

Sense the temperature of the air as it enters your body.

Try to detect the temperature of the air as it leaves your body.

Know yourself as a body emanating heat.

Reach your tailbone toward the base of your pelvis.

And create space in between the vertebra.

The chemical reaction creating heat in your body is constantly burning.

Representing the nowness of the fire.

The is-ness of the flame.

Pure burning.

Pure live-ness.

Let the air expand your ribs evenly.

Smoothly.

Keep letting the exhale move out of the body naturally.

The flame showing as light,

As photons,

Is the nature of your existence.

The ability to be seen.

Breathe on.

We are one.
