I'd like to share a phrase that's become important to me lately.
Consume the present.
To me,
It means fully experiencing your life while it's happening,
Not rushing through a moment to get to the next one,
Not living in yesterday,
Not waiting for tomorrow.
But allowing yourself to be here for the life that's unfolding right now.
Because the truth is life moves quickly.
A season begins.
A season ends.
A child grows.
A relationship changes.
A dream that you've been working toward suddenly arrives.
And often,
We don't realize how meaningful a moment was until it's already become a memory.
That's why I think consuming the present is an act of love.
A way of telling yourself,
I don't want to miss my own life.
Take a moment to notice where you are.
Not where you were this morning.
Not where you'll be tomorrow.
Just here.
Right now.
Most of us spend our lives somewhere else.
We're replaying a conversation that already happened.
We're worrying about something that hasn't happened yet.
We're planning,
Fixing,
Solving,
Preparing.
And while we're doing all of that,
Life keeps moving.
A laugh comes and goes.
The light changes outside the window.
Someone we love tells us a story.
A season begins.
A season ends.
And sometimes we don't realize we're living through something beautiful.
Until it's already become a memory.
So let's practice.
Without changing anything,
Notice what is happening around you.
What sounds can you hear?
Maybe there's music.
Maybe there's traffic.
Maybe there's nothing but the sound of your own breathing.
See if you can listen without judging.
Just relax.
Listening.
Now,
Notice what you can feel.
The weight of your body.
The temperature of the air.
The support beneath you.
The simple fact that you are here.
Breathing.
Living.
Existing in this moment.
Now,
Ask yourself.
What is happening right now that I might miss if I'm not paying attention?
Don't force an answer.
Just become curious.
Maybe it's the sunlight across the floor.
Maybe it's the feeling of a calm that only arrives when you stop rushing.
Maybe it's the comfort of being alone.
Or the presence of someone you love nearby.
Maybe it's nothing extraordinary at all.
In fact,
Most of life isn't extraordinary.
It's ordinary.
And that's what makes it so easy to miss.
The truth is.
.
.
Our lives are built from moments like these.
Not the big milestones,
Not the highlight reel,
But these small,
Quiet moments that seem insignificant.
Until they're gone.
So for the next few breaths.
Allow yourself to be here.
Not fixing.
Not planning,
Not remembering.
Just witnessing.
Just receiving.
Take a slow breath in.
And let it go.
Let's take another slow,
Deep breath in.
And one more out.
As you move through the rest of your day.
I want to leave you with a question.
What is happening right now that you don't want to miss?
See if you can stay with the answer for a few extra seconds.
Your life is happening here.
Let yourself be here for it.
Thank you for spending time with yourself today.
