Tornado Calming Breath is a simple way that you can use your own breath to help you when you feel frustrated.

There's always going to be times in life when situations become difficult and you might feel angry,

Irritable,

Or discouraged,

Or maybe you even feel a bit of all of these emotions mixed together,

Like a tornado.

And when you feel this way,

It can be like a tornado tearing across what was a clear day just moments before.

This five-breath tool can help you calm the winds of your emotional tornado and become clear again so you can deal with the situation in a calm and steady way.

Start by making a fist with one of your hands.

Each of your five fingers will represent one long,

Deep breath.

Now,

Either close your eyes or if that doesn't feel comfortable,

Just look downwards toward the ground.

Start with your thumb.

Release your thumb and give a thumbs up sign and take one long,

Deep breath in and a long,

Deep breath out.

Now,

Uncurl your pointer finger.

Take a long,

Deep breath in and a long,

Deep breath out.

Let go of your middle finger.

Take a long,

Deep breath in and a long,

Deep breath out.

Let go of your ring finger.

Take a long,

Deep breath in and a long,

Deep breath out.

Now,

Let go of your last finger.

Take a long,

Deep breath in and a long,

Deep breath out.

Now,

Press your palm down on the floor or a table in front of you like you're putting a stop to the tornado's winds completely.

And as you push down,

Remember this.

You have done harder things than this.

You are strong.

You are loved and have people who will help you.

All of your problems have solutions and you are smart enough to find them.

Open your eyes or look forward now if you were looking down.

Trust that you have calmed the winds and your day is clearer now.

If it feels right to you,

Put a smile on your face and move forward.
