This meditation is an invitation for you to slow down and meditate in or near your closet.
Our closets often hold more than clothes.
They hold memories,
Expectations,
Past versions of ourselves,
And pressure to fit into who we used to be.
In this meditation,
You'll be guided to mindfully let go of clothing that no longer serves your life or your body and make space for what feels supportive now.
This practice is not about weight,
Rules,
Or fixing yourself.
It's about honoring change,
Practicing self-acceptance,
And creating room both physically and emotionally for ease.
You're welcome to join from your closet,
Bedroom,
Or anywhere you feel comfortable.
Come as you are,
No decluttering required during the meditation.
This offering is part of Meditate in Style,
Where mindfulness meets real life and we learn to love both the darling and not-so-darling parts of ourselves.
So go ahead and get comfortable.
Find a position that feels supportive,
Maybe it's sitting,
Standing,
Or leaning nearby.
If it feels okay,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze and take a slow breath in through your nose and a gentle breath out through your mouth.
Let your shoulders soften.
Let the body settle.
Our closets often hold more than clothes.
They hold memories,
Expectations,
Past versions of ourselves,
And quiet pressure to fit into what and who we used to be.
Bring your attention to your breath,
Easy,
Natural,
Just as it is.
Now gently bring your awareness to the clothes around you.
Notice if there are items connected to another season of your life,
Another body,
Another version of you.
There's no judgment here,
Only noticing.
This practice is not about weight,
Rules,
Or fixing yourself.
It's about honoring change.
Our bodies change,
Our lives change,
And that does not mean anything went wrong.
Bring to mind one piece of clothing that no longer serves your life or body today.
You don't need to touch it or remove it,
Just simply notice it.
And silently say to a do-it-yourself or out loud,
Thank you for being part of my journey.
I release you with kindness.
Now take a deep breath in through the nose,
And as you exhale,
Imagine letting go,
Not with force,
But with ease.
Notice the space that creates,
Not emptiness,
But relief.
Now bring your attention to what feels supportive now,
Clothes that allow you to move,
Breathe,
And live your life as it is today.
Imagine your closet feeling lighter,
Calmer,
More aligned.
Let that sense of ease settle into your body.
Place one hand on your heart if that feels grounding,
And silently repeat or simply listen.
I honor change.
I practice self-acceptance.
I make space for ease.
Take a deep breath in through the nose,
And a long,
Slow exhale out through the mouth.
You know,
Just like hangers hold our clothes,
We all have invisible hangers in our lives too.
Some are holding things that still fit us beautifully,
Our values,
Our dreams,
The memories that warm our hearts.
But some hangers are carrying things that are outdated,
Too tight,
Too heavy,
Or simply not us anymore.
So I want you to gently ask yourself,
What's been hanging around in my life that I am ready to take down?
As we look into our closets,
And we look into the closet of our hearts and our minds,
Let's begin to gently take down what no longer fits.
Old worries,
Worn out stories,
Beliefs we outgrew but forgot to release.
You don't have to yank them down,
Just softly lift them off the hanger with compassion.
Take a slow breath in through the nose,
And a gentle sigh out the mouth.
And now,
With this new space you're creating,
Let's choose what we want to rehang with intention.
Maybe it's trust,
Maybe it's peace,
Maybe it's joy,
Confidence,
Or a dream you tucked away,
But with each breath,
You are clearing space,
Rehanging a life that fits the person you are becoming.
A little lighter,
A little freer,
A little more you.
This is meditate in style where mindfulness meets real life.
Now,
Let's take one final slow breath in through the nose,
And a gentle breath out.
And when you're ready,
Softly open your eyes,
Coming back into your space.
Notice the space you've created,
Not just in your closet,
But in your mind,
Your heart,
Your energy.
As you move back into your day,
Imagine yourself choosing what you wear on the inside with the same intention you chose for an outfit.
Maybe today you put on a little more compassion,
Maybe a softer voice toward yourself,
Maybe the courage to let the not-so-darling parts be seen without fixing them.
You're allowed to evolve,
You're allowed to outgrow,
You are allowed to make space for the life that fits you now.
My heart sees yours,
Darling.
I'll be right here if you need to come back.
